I was ticking off the number of times Obama used "I", "me" or "my" during the SOTU. I wound up with 115, though I'm sure I missed a few.

I counted 79 “I”s and 8 “me”s from the text. Still “American(s)” he only said 5 times.

What I thought interesting, was instead of using so many I's, me's he morfed his I and me mess into WE and Our mess.

In other words We are responsible for the I/ME mess he created.

I counted 91 I, me, mine occurances in the speech. If he repeated a phrase with I in it, I counted each repetition.

Note that he is also using "we" frequently to substitute for "I".

An embarrassing speech--in an attempt to talk down at the (imagined) knuckledraggers he adopted faux folksiness. Ugh. Creepy.

The thing about all these I, me, and my’s is that it has to be a group effort. Obama’s not writing his own speeches, at least not the bulk of them. So all the I, me and my’s have to be agreed upon between Obama and his speechwriters.
