OK, no doubt Obama's speech was full of glaring inaccuracies, and ridiculous viewpoints, and yawning Harry Reid with a couple of bones thrown toward the Republicans. The end of his speech was filled with some inspirational rhetoric about the spirit of America, that will probably mean nothing substantive. However, and I think I may be blasted for this, but did the Republican response look like an infomercial complete with pre-rehearsed jokes? It seems like the only thing missing was the Power Juicer product. It seemed fake. The setting, in my humble opinion, was quite ridiculous, and makes the Republicans looks like small beans compared to the President and his audience. I would have preferred Bobby Jindall popping out of a closet. It would be great for someone who is articulate, not that the Gov of Virginia wasn't articulate, but someone who can show that our philosophy of conservatism doesn't have to be sugarcoated for it to have merit. It stands on its own.
Am I wrong?
You are wrong. I’m not troll, and I’m not trying to sow dissent. That’s absurd. Not that I don’t think trolls are out there. I use FreeRepublic as my political sounding board. I appreciate everyone’s comments.
What a huge insult! Ouch...FYI, I’m no troll. Just asking a question and wanting people to correct me. Thanks.

I admit I jumped the gun there — I was wrong.
Did you notice he gave his speech (McDonnell) without teleprompters and written notes. It could have had a smidgen of oomph and fire , though, he is a bit impassive. But the speech was delivered flawlessly.
For the 8 years of GW Bush's SOTU, the demoRAT responses were always a swift targeted rebuttal (lies & distortions to be sure) of both Bush & his message. Why can't Repubs directly point out the lies & fallacies & inaccuracies that 0bozo was spewing forth tonight. I mean, McDonnell did ok, but it was pretty much a bland, vanilla, mildly inspiring speech. I wish that Rush Limbaugh would give the Republican rebuttal. Someone that can target with pinpoint accuracy the lies & duplicity of 0bozo. Ohhhh well.... at least McDonnell's speech was a break even rather than a loss!!!
Or...they won't remember a thing he said.
Read an article today that said most people have a high respect for Nobama's oratory, but can't remember anything he's said.
>Confident, upbeat and most importantly hitched a ride on the Brown rocket and gave the Brown victory a booster rocket.<
Brown hitched a ride on McDonnell’s meteoric rise to the Governor’s Mansion in Virginia, not vice versa.
Agree.
Wow. Thanks. Did I crash FreeRepublic? My laptop overheated also. It must have been mad at my comments too. That’s why some of my posts were repeated. Freerepublic crashed. Maybe alot of traffic.
really? i suppose he whooped some, but i know people who are not whooped by fluff...
McDonnell said more in 10 mins than obozo did in 2 hrs. The differences couldn’t be more black and white. One was talking about continuing to shove DeathCare down out throats while the other was saying gummit was too big. Great Night!
Pray for America
No, it was not a great speech!
It was a typical lecture.
It was another one of those irritating, I,I,I .. And End each sentence with an awful clip dialogs that he has given more than 400 times!
For those who threw out negative words about this young Governor McDonnell's answer to Zer0, I am outraged. They obviously did not listen to the speech.
Governor McDonnell hit it out of the park with his speech! He was comprehensive and outlined the proper role of government as it relates to America's purpose.
The use of the audience was sheer genius. They amplified his every word with the reactions on their faces. They projected my own feelings as an American. He connected to them as he connected to me. Bravo to him and the impact I am sure he made across this nation and the world.
What did you not believe? What premises were flat-out wrong?
I have to disagree, I thought it was pretty good. I’d never seen McDonnell before tonight, and I think he is one of the best Republican speakers in recent memory.
He kept the tone positive and upbeat while contrasting the Republican’s ideals to the failures of Obama. And he did it with a smile and non-offensive demeanor.
If the Republicans had come out snarling in full attack mode right after the SOTU, it would make them look petty and desperate.
Governor McDonnell's speech was dynamic, well prepared and connected with his audience. He did not need to emotionalize his words. The reactions of the audience did it all for him.
So having an audience present to hear the speech made it staged and like an infomercial. I am sure you think that the reactions of the audience were all scripted. McDonnell did start off with a few words that were not perfectly enunciated. It may have been a little case of the nerves. However, he quickly came in stride, delivering a very human, engaging speech that connected with the audience present as well as the American people. His speech also connected to the entire world.
I loved it when he said that the State of Virginia was going to be the first state in the union to put in some new off shore drilling rigs. Bravo! Drill here drill now! About time someone did it.
You are spot on! I think McDonnell with his youthful and straight forward demeanor lit another fire to sweep across this nation. I tell you, the Republican Party has some new blood that’s looking good.
