A Mitt-Rudy ticket? Maybe, Giuliani tells Utah crowd (MASSIVE BARF ALERT)
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 2010-01-28 | Derek P. Jensen

At turns charming about his New York mayoral stint then chippy toward President Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani delivered a red-meat speech on leadership to a receptive Utah audience Wednesday before a direct question made him pause.

"Could there be a Romney-Giuliani ticket in 2012?" Sen. John Valentine, R-Orem, asked the failed 2008 presidential candidate.

Giuliani waited for the anxious laughter to fade, then framed a toothy grin.

"There could be anything in 2012, who knows?" he told a crowd of nearly 1,000 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. "Things change in American politics almost instantly."

So, Obama wins again,a third party vote is a vote for a Obama, like it or not.

We'll just have to make sure the Democrats don't pick our candidate like they did last time around. We've got to keep the Rudys, Huckabees and Romneys off that ticket.

I'd like to see a powerful Dem (like Hillary) challenge Barry for the nomination in 2012 to keep them engaged and away from our primaries. Better yet, I'd like to see the current "open" primary system done away with.

I couldn’t go for that, I’m afraid.

-There is a place in the party for Rudy. I think he’d make a fine Attorney General, and (IMHO) he’d be light years better than Napolitano at Homeland Security. But as Presidential candidate, I think he’s too far removed from conservatives and even many moderates (or RINO’s if you prefer) on many social issues. I also think the personal baggage will come back to haunt him.

-As for Mitt...eh. I don’t have the visceral dislike for Romney that some other Freepers do, but neither does he excite me as a candidate. He does have some good ideas on economic issues, but I’m wary of some of his other stances, including the 2nd Amendment.

That’s a dream ticket for the RNC but a nightmare for real Conservatives. We are going to have to step up in the primaries to make sure these RINO’s don’t make it to the finals.

Michael Steel controls the RNC. The RNC has done nothing to reform the priamry rules that put McCain at the top of the ticket. Why would he? Those same rules got him his job. We need to focus on the primary process NOW if we want to avoid having Dems choose our candidate in 2012.

It would be nice to see Free Republic lead in this effort.

Don’t laugh.
The way pubbies allowed dems to vote in their primaries it made sure a rino turd (McLame) would be the standard bearer.
We gonna allow another RINO or old guy who’s “time or turn has come up”?
I will NEVER again vote for the lesser of two evils.
CONSERVATIVE or go fish.

Rudy as Veep would be ok with me..as long as there was a conservative at the top of the ticket. Personally I think he’s most suited to be Homeland Security Chief under a Republican administration.

Untrustworthy, poor loser, Romney will get back the loyalty he gave Gov. Palin -- NONE.

SCREENPLAY:

Carpetbagger, death panel-imposing Mitt ("I am Myth") Romney:
"You will embrace these attacks on the GOP now, throwing the Election.
Create, then support, these attacks from our northern lands,
the media, and some of mine on the Obama team who will join you.
I will gain GOP favor by condemning the attacks and
ordering them opposed from our lands in the south.
Whichever way the tide runs, we will rise and be left standing.
"

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 to 10 pts. in some polls, days prior to the election.
So rather than helping the GOP, poor loser “I am Myth” Romney and
TeamROMNEY decided …… to attack Gov. Palin (and her defenseless children) to throw Election2008.

"Frum was indeed a critic of Palin, calling her nomination a "huge mistake" during an October 13 (2008, weeks before the election) Early Show appearance."

David Frum: "Two of our most plausible candidates for president in 2012 are leading Mormons: Mitt Romney and Utah governor Jon Huntsman."

David Frum: "I have a lot of regard for Mitt Romney as a man and politician… I will support him without qualm."

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Just how attractive do you find these men, exactly?

Would you actually vote for them?

Please. We await your answer.

That would certainly break my “R” streak since 1976. Guess I’d I have to vote Libertarian in that scenario.

Whoa....I'm surprised the reaction is so vehement. Search my history if you like.... I'm from the Palin/FredThompson/Santorum/Reagan wing, but given what we're looking at: an economic meltdown and further increased terrorism activity these 2 may be tops in their respective fields. The economy and terror.

I initially did favor Romney...and who cares if Rudy has social issues wrong, we're winning the abortion/marriage debates via popular opinion. Romney's a bit too much of a politician for me now, but he knows financial fixes and we're in desperate need of that now.

“they are both very attractive men..”

My butt shaved and with googly eyes stuck to it is better looking.

“and men will find them virtuous male with hard character..”

Now, I like good satire, I really do.
But THIS is pathetic.
Guilia and the Mitt-Ho?
Virtuous?
Hard character?
*cough*

If they are what makes your heart pitter pat, then I would make it explode.
99% of FR males would annihilate Guilia’s and Mitt-Ho’s supposed virtue and hard character.

Yeah there, 'could be anything in 2012'.

Rudy is so full of crap, its disgusting.
He's a coward, has the morals of an alley cat and is still - last I checked - a DRAFT DODGER.

and he AIN'T "America's Mayor". Oprah gave him that (cough) title.
