Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said she would not serve a full eight years if President Barack Obama wins another term, hoping eventually to retire to writing and teaching. Clinton, who has spent two decades in the national spotlight and narrowly lost her own bid to be president in 2008, said she enjoyed her job as the top US diplomat but found it physically grueling.
Asked by talk-show host Tavis Smiley if she would serve eight years, she replied: "No, I really can't."
"The whole eight -- that would be very challenging," she said in the interview broadcast Wednesday on public television.
"It's a 24-7 job and I think at some point, I will be very happy to pass it on to someone else," Clinton said.
Clinton repeated that she would not run again for president, saying she wanted a private life after a career in which she has served as first lady and a US senator.
"There are so many things I'm interested in, really going back

Wow! Not that this is a surprise but she will run for President in 2012. 2012 is going to be a showdown for who will ultimately be the President. I think it will be bloodier than 2008. Both in Republican and Democratic Parties but it will be exciting to watch.
At a minimum, she is cutting her losses.
Whatever one thinks about either of the Clintons, they have pretty keenly honed survival instincts. She is getting the hell away from this Hindenburg gasbag.
LOL!! I always smile when I remember that there is no statute of limitations on homicide. That, and remembering what the Bible says, "...be sure your sin will find you out."
to bad Travis didn’t ask....”does President Clinton want you to serve 8 years?”...
Hilda..”are you sh**ing me?”
oh yeah tavis...who names their kid Pene Lope...”thats Penelope Doogle”
Thanks for the ping!
Hil, figure on serving 20 to 30 years when you and your hubby finally get issued the orange jumpsuits at Ft. Leavenworth.
Run Hillary Run
It took me a second, but I actually lol’d on that one!
Of course not. She will stab O in the back and run against him.
Neither will Obama.
Hillary was oddly not in attendance for the State Of The Union this evening. The timing of all of this isn’t by accident. She’s running in 2012. She knows it. Obama knows it and now we know it. I’ll be surprised if Hillary is still SOS 6 months from now.
It'll be Mayan, man. The Clinton's have seen the worm turn in Mass. (and NJ and VA) and figure the cost of stealing the election for Hillary in light of Zero's impending trainwreck performance would be too high.
She'll have look elsewhere, unless, the 'people' demand she make the sacrafice for the good of the country and then, aw shucks, she'll throw in her garter, you know, for the good of the country, of course.
I think she should serve 20 to life.
The judge will give her five, plus time off for good behavior.
well good riddance, but think of the self-contradiction, unless she only wanted to be POTUS for one term (which is hard to believe)
so she wanted voters to believe that she could handle the Presidency for two terms, but she’s over her head as Secretary of State?????
that is quite “interesting” to say the least......
If Obama gets his ass kicked out of office in 2012 you won’t serve 8 years Crusty.
I am not sure that Hillary has the intellectual stamina is requires to be POTUS. Ever!
Hellry & MAO-bama are BOTH Alinsky communists - she studied directly from him and o-bammie taught his “Rules” to the new ACORN organizers.
I thought she would too; but after seeing pictures of how tired she looks; she may not. Although Obama doesn’t realize it; the POTUS job is 24/7 too.
I give her another year in the cabinet. She’ll leave after the midterm elections.
Based on his track record, I predict Scott Ritter as Obama’s next SecState choice...
Scott, Child-Predator, Ritter?
Mr. disgusting Master Bater??
I’m just thinking that BO has not made being Sec. of State a gratifying position for Hillary. He’s kept her in the shadows. She must be a very frustrated woman.
Sorry I can’t recall.
In her own words:
"I ain't nowhars neer tahrd!"
Don’t these people ever die of natural causes? The last one I remember is Paul Tsongas.
Clinton repeated that she would not run again for president
so she wanted voters to believe that she could handle the Presidency for two terms, but shes over her head as Secretary of State?????
that is quite interesting
