Tea Party Requests Republicans Back Patrick Hughes In Illinois Senate Race

Posted on 01/29/2010 3:10:07 PM PST by TitansAFC

Conservatives, Tea Partiers, and 912 organizations need to make the hard decision to coalesce around a conservative candidate to mount any type of challenge to the GOP’s liberal candidate, Mark Kirk. When there are numerous conservative candidates splitting the conservative vote, the liberal candidate will win. The only Conservative Republican candidate for Senate that has resources, message, and organization to mount a challenge to Mark Kirk is Patrick Hughes. He needs all Conservative votes to defeat Kirk in the GOP primary and to drive the Conservative message forward to Victory in the General Election. With four good conservatives in the race, we need to understand that the Conservative cause is much larger than any individual candidate.

The Will County Tea Party Alliance Candidates Forum probed the candidates on the three pillars of running a successful campaign, Message, Money, and Organization. Only Patrick Hughes has all three. The other Conservative Republican Senate candidates are polling less than 1% with no finances and no organizations. This makes it impossible for them to make any type of strong strategic surge with such a short time till the primary election. A vote for anyone other than Hughes is a vote for Mark Kirk. Because of the large number of undecided’s there is a definite opportunity for Hughes to overcome Kirk. When more information is given about Patrick Hughes’s stand on the issues, voters will support him. Most voters indicate they consider themselves Conservative. Americans, are fed up with liberal spending, extreme views on social issues, attacks on traditional America, support of foreign nations over the United States, and giving non-citizens the same rights as citizens, just to mention a few.

The media is starting to show some interest in the Illinois Senate race because of a recent Wall Street Journal Poll that has party favorable rankings as the following: Tea Party 41%, Democrats 35%, Republicans 28%. Patrick Hughes is the candidate that best represents that 41% and 28% here in Illinois. The Joliet Tea Party, Homer-Lockport Tea Party, Will County Tea Party Alliance, Rockford Tea Party, and Effingham Tea Party have all recently thrown their support behind the Hughes campaign. If we are to take back our State from corrupt, mega spending politicians with an Agenda the majority of people are against, we need to support Patrick Hughes.

I got an e-mail from the Independence Caucus: “This past weekend, Illinois I-caucus members endorsed Judge Don Lowery in Illinois and I am excited to see such a stellar candidate emerge from the vetting process.

“Here’s problem #1: Mark Kirk is the front runner, and the choice of the Republican party establishment...and Kirk is currently a Representative who voted for TARP and was one of only 8 Republicans to vote for Cap and Trade which you may recall passed by only 7 votes.

“Here’s problem #2: There are several challengers who are all currently splitting votes amongst themselves which is working to Mark Kirk’s advantage

“Here’s problem #3: A lot of media types, even some of the Fox News media types, are touting Patrick Hughes as the “tea party” or “grass roots” candidate...but Hughes is not the true fiscally responsible constitutional candidate in this race!”

It could be that Judge Lowery has too little support to be elected, but here are a couple of pertinent links:

Lowery? Why pimp a candidate who’s sitting at 1-2% in the polls - when the election is four days away. Hughes is at 20%, maybe higher. Might as well go with Hughes.

Lowery is unknown.

Every Conservative media outlet and organization is supporting Hughes.

It’s time to get behind the leading option. It just so happens that it’s Hughes. If it were Lowery, I’d switch.

Saw a Glenn Beck video where he was essentially telling his audience to support Hughes over Progressive Kirk - though Beck doesn’t make official endorsements, it was pretty clear he was for Hughes. Praying for a miracle on Tuesday.

I think that miracle gets more difficult because we’re not going to get every potential vote. Rest assured, Lowery will take 2-3%, and that may make the difference if we’re really unlucky......

I heard Don Wade and Roma weren’t in today. And Edgar, who while he was in didn’t do a damm thing to help city GOP ward orgs is busy on radio commercials pushing Kirk.
Cap and Trade are going to be one of the key issues in the 2010 campaign...and they’re pushing a guy who voted for it. Because they contributed to his congressional campaign.
Nuts !
Here is one of the best scientificly based arguments against CO2 caused global warming...Which shows its pseudo science and nothing but a vehicle to generate taxes to build bureacracies and reward friends.

Agree; Hughes is Conservative, and has the momentum at this point to upset Kirk, none of the others do (however likable and conservative they are)..

No, I don’t see what you mean. About three days ago, I read, on Illinois Leader, that the majority of Illinois Tea Party groups endorsed Judge Lowery. I’ve volunteered for him since Dec. 6.

I emailed Don & Roma, about four times, and I asked them to ask Rep. Kirk why he’s a Republican, although he’s pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-gay marriage, pro-tax increases, pro-spending increases, pro-illegal alien, and anti-Iraq surge. They didn’t send a response, and I didn’t hear them ask my question.

And that’s the problem. Because one group insists in uniting behind Hughes and another insists in uniting behind Lowery, and this is why Combiner Kirk has no worries. You’re really just wasting your time at this point. Just like my state’s Senate GOP primary race in 2006, a 3-way fiasco that allowed the most liberal candidate to win.

Bingo, fieldmarshaldj!

If Lowery pulls a Brady, and pulls just enough votes to ensure the RINO wins the nod — as far as I'm concerned his aspirations for statewide office are over. He'd better hope Kirk wins in a landslide.

I am SO DAMN SICK of this crap in IL. Every &*($(*#@ing election we have to have vote slitting on the Conservative side.

There is not ONE DAMN THING wrong with Hughes that is so repugnant that we should vote for Lowery even if it helps Kirk win. Not one.

I honestly SWEAR these guys are Libertarians and Constitution Party plants DELIBERATELY trying to split the vote so that a RINO wins (”now WE have the only true Conservative Candidate running in the General Election!”).

There is no justification for voting Lowery over Hughes right now, none. Not with Kirk salivating over every vote Lowery bleeds from Hughes.

Am I really the only IL Freeper who casts his vote for the most Conservative candidate with the best chance of winning?

Seriously, every &**())ing election, every damn one.

Weather tomorrow in Chicago and Northern part of Illinois is snow with temps in the upper 20s and lower 30s. That should keep a lot of the Liberals in the Crack Houses and the HO houses during polling hours.

One can only hope.

I appreciate a person having “Principles”. I also appreciate people who say: “I want to send a message.” But, do you know where you find candidates of people who want to send a message on Election Night? In the LOST COLUMN!!!

PLEASE VOTE FOR PATRICK HUGHES.

A lot of people who tell pollsters they are voting for a “dark horse candidate” will change their mind when they get in that voting booth and realize that they’re vote will be a wasted vote. They come to their senses. That’s why 3rd Party Candidates never do as good on Election Day as they do in the Polls.
