Skeptics pointed to this as a flaw in global warming theory. Not so fast, cried the climate modelers. They quickly spun a number of possible explanations, including ozone holes, ocean currents, and terrain that cut off Antarctica from the world's warming. As the certainty in the cooling trend grew, so did their statements, until they eventually began stating that they had predicted a cooling trend all along.
As the folks at RealClimate put it, "Doesn't this contradict [global warming]? Not at all, because a cold Antarctica is just what calculations predict
and have predicted for the past quarter century."

High Ernest?,
It’s called Universal Norming.
Look, in a few quadrillion-drillion
years the universe will be about
3.3 degrees Kelvin; everywhere.
It’s Universal Norming.
We must act now to stop this.
Yes we can.
>Is Antarctica warming or cooling?
Considering that weather is, by definition, dynamic (that is changing): Yes.
Next question.

Coldest Temp: -129°F (-89°C) on July 21, 1983 Location: Vostok Station
Warmest Temp: +59°F (+15°C) on Jan 5, 1974 Location: Vanda Station
Mean Temps: Winter: -40 to -94°F (-40 to -70°C) Summer: -5 to -31°F (-15 to -35°C)
I say warming in the winter (which is its summer) and cooling in the summer (which is its winter)! I’m no climatologist, but I think it may called seasons.
So, do you think that this whole idea of global warming was, uhm, uhm....inVENTED? By that, uhm, that guy, uhm, who invented the Internet? What WAS his name? Say! That’s not the same guy who got a Nobel for all his global warming educational work, is it? What WAS his name?
Perhaps one of
the biggest issues with the global data is the disappearance of temperature monitoring stations from the networks after 1990. More than 6000 stations were active in the mid-1970s. 1500 or less are in use today.

That's because they were stolen by Climate Deniers! I think.
From way up in space, whirling and twirling merrily about the earth, they can image the surface, and measure temperatures, or at least relative temperatures, of land and sea...even if covered by ice and snow.
And, what do their wondering, wandering heat seeking eyes bring into our view?
EUREKA! A warm area; that must be an erupting volcano under the ice!
In the immortal words of Brigham Young, as he gazed upon the Salt Lake Valley, we shouted out in glee “THIS IS THE PLACE!”
We, the CRU Crew, (koo-koo-kah-chew!) saw this made to order miracle, and said into our beards and emails, “Quick, like a bunny, let us place our only Official Temperature Measuring Station for the entire Antarctic continent RIGHT HERE!”
And, so we did, and the rest is Anthropogenic Warming history! You can't stop us, we are th...ARRRRRGH!
