SALT LAKE CITY — The next Republican presidential nominee could be named in Utah.

After four months of study, the GOP has selected Salt Lake City as one of four finalists for the 2012 Republican National Convention, an event that could bring 30,000 people to the state for several days.

The other finalists will be announced early next week, and the winner will be selected in late summer after GOP officials visit each city.

If Salt Lake City gets the bid, the 2012 event would be the first GOP convention held in the Intermountain West. Denver hosted the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

Don’t know.

Unlike SLC, the others haven’t made themselves known. All four finalist cities were sent emails on Friday.

Looks to me like SLC is trying to pre-empt the others.

SLC also gets to play host to a Republican National Committee team in the spring that will review the site.

The RNC is expected to make a final pick by early May.

SCP: Mitt has shown an disinterence with America at war, first sitting out the Vietnam war, part of the time in Paris.
Having 5 sons who have never served in the military.

999: I don’t think it is fair to hold lack of military service against anyone when there is no draft
_____________________________________________________

What’s that got to do with Romney ???

There was a draft on during Nam...

And Romney dodged that draft at least TWO times..

]\As SCP said, Romney sat out the war, in Paris...

He lived in a mansion and drove a Citroen..

While reaL men were dying in Nam, eating K-Rations and living in mud and walking to work..

and Romney was talking ugly about them...

The only thing that those soldiers had that Romney never has had was a gun...

Romney is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief...

Romney is not fit to clean the honorable combat boots of any of our troops ...

In Nam or now...

Romney is a dishonorable Judas...

Oklahoma is pretty red, too. And it’s near the center of the country.

I enjoy the mormon bashing threads

FAIL. What we bash is his lousy RECORD, newbie.

I agree with you though, troll, I don't think it matters where the convention is held. I can't see how it being held in Utah would increase the likelihood of a Romney nomination.

Ah, quite to the contrary, holding the GOP convention in Salt Lake City and ramming Stake President Romney's nomination through there would hold enormous implications for both LDS and the GOP as a whole.

As anyone who knows anything about LDS can tell you, Mormonism is not only an expansionist religion theologically (hence the heavy mission work), but the Church also seeks to expand its already significant political power base all the way to the Presidency.

This has been a goal ever since Joseph Smith tried to do it in 1844, in which he promoted his idea of "theodemocracy."

Simply put, when it comes to LDS, it is IMPOSSIBLE to separate religion and politics since the Church views them as one and the same.

Always has and always will.

If you actually are on a moral highground, then you can surely deal with some inferior thinker, such as myself, making comments about it.

I guess I don’t see you shouting warnings about Rudi, Huckabee, and Pawlenty. They are all RINOS’s too, and Huckabee just beat Obama in a poll. Just trying to figure out the common denominator, and it looks like I hit a nerve. Thanks for calling me a troll, it speaks volumes about you.

You obviously aren’t familiar with me newbie. I don’t like them either especially Duckabee.

I call you a troll because you mention the “mormom-bashing” myth crap. Very few of us that don’t like Romney give a crap what religion he is, he’s has a horrible record. Mr. Romneycare? For President? LOL. Nominating Mitt is a great idea if you want to see Obama win again. Stop accusing Romney opponents of being “Mormom-bashers” or you’ll find you have the respect of no one.

Your post to me is proof that you don’t even bother reading what you answer to. Isn’t a “Romneybot” someone who supports Romney? Well, I don’t support him or any other RINO. Nice one. If you have the privilege to bash a religion on here, then you should not have a problem with someone commenting on it.

You are not honest. Would have thought you would be.
But you are not. You were asked for proof of your
disingenuous statement, but remain silent. No wonder.

Let’s see your equal disdain and rebukes of Huckabee, Rudi, and Pawlenty. Don’t see it.

If this thread has nothing to do with bringing up religion, then explain post #67. Imagine that. That same poster, also was one of the first 5 replies to this thread if I remember. Mmmmmmmm

You claimed to not be a RomneyBOT.
Yet you defend the indefensible with false statements.

Did either of the others institute RomneyCARE (=ObamaCARE)?
Did either of the others override a Constitution?

Huckabee did put on bad judges that released murderers
like Romney and that has been rebuked. Any comment?
