Wife of ex-Cowboys player Jay Novacek found dead after apparent suicide

BURLESON – LeAnne Novacek, the wife of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek, was found dead at her mother’s home in Burleson Monday of an apparent suicide, authorities said.
Burleson police Commander Doug Sandifer said that the cause appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office said Novacek’s body was found in the bedroom of the home in the 7700 block of FM 1902 just after 9 a.m. The 911 call came from Novacek’s mother, Sandifer said. Novacek, 45, lived in nearby Joshua.
Police said they are awaiting the medical examiner’s ruling on a cause and manner of death.
“It appeared no foul play, so we’re waiting for the medical examiner’s findings,” Sandifer said.

Jay Novacek was one of the best, most underrated tight ends in the NFL. This is very sad to hear.

Sad news. I don’t know either personally nor am I a Cowboy fan but it is always sad to see someone lose their spouse at that point of life.

It was reported on the local DFW news that she suffered from sever depression and used a gun. Sad, so very sad.

Always such a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sad. Truer words were never spoken. Only 20% of suicides are due to depression. Most suicides are a result of people who cannot solve one or a series of critical problems and offing themselves increasingly becomes to easiest way out. It is tragic indeed.
