There is a lady who is a true Conservative running for Governor of Texas and, in the polls, she is closing in on Ted Kennedy's girlfriend, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Her name is Debra Medina. Check out her website:

Well, I was suprised to find 8 polls and forgot to mention most of them asked who won the debate, but the whole point of the article was to disprove the notion that the polls were spammed by Medina supporters.

You may be right about her chances, but I’m just trying to let others know she is running and where she stands on issues important to Texans. I hope Rasmussen conducts another poll soon. Medina is gaining while Hutchinson loses accordingly.

A runoff will give voters more time to hear the candidates on the issues and that’s a good thing.

I misquoted Medina’s latest Rasmussen # which should be 16%. So she is climbing but does she have the time with no money for statewide pushes to help her get her message out? We’ll seen basically 24 days.

I have no doubt Medina has gained from the start as she started basically at zero so there was no way but up. Basically all I’m saying that onlines polls are junk.

I agree with this author that all bets are off in this election year. He puts it this way:

Kronberg called this primary historical.

“The big deal for us in this election is that we have not had an exciting Republican primary since 1990,” said Kronberg.

Kronberg said that excitement could actually make these polls virtually worthless. Since pollsters contact people who have previously voted in a Republican primary, the thousands who are new participants haven’t been taken into account.

“We may see the Republican primary double and then all bets are off as to who the winner is,” said Kronberg.

Besides Independents, a formidable voting bloc this year is the “Tea Party.” The group of citizens frustrated with government has grown to more than 120 thousand people and that could represent more than 10 percent of TX Republican primary voters.

“The tea parties are really just the will of the people,” said Greg Holloway with the Tea Party Patriots .

And, being a “citizen candidate,” Debra Medina has found strong support in this group.

“I think people can see themselves in her shoes,” said Holloway. “If they were going to run, they might do some of the things she’s done as far as getting grassroots support.”

But, Holloway said not all tea partiers agree with Medina’s policies. In the group you’ll find Perry supporters as well as those who are backing Hutchison. But, one thing they all agree on is they are fed up with the way government is run now.

“We want a return to constitutional principles,” said Holloway.

As far as the poll goes, Hutchison’s camp issued this statement:

“The only poll that matters is the one on election day when Texans will face a choice between Rick Perry’s record of cronyism or Kay Bailey Hutchison’s plan for a strong Texas.”

But, with the numbers getting closer, Kronberg doesn’t rule out the possibility of a Perry/Medina face-off in an April 13 run-off election.

“You could make a case that she’s actually battling Hutchison for second place,” said Kronberg. “I would not dismiss that possibility simply because this is such an unconventional year.”

After finally getting the statewide exposure her campaign expense account cannot afford, Debra Medina has moved up in the polls after the two Republican gubernatorial debates.

Why don't you bring the entire house full to the next TexasCowboy annual shoot and prove that you are not a liar?
Man, you guys are gonna give me an inadequacy complex or something. (errr...in the gun [this is my rifle this is my gun]...er...uh...weapons [yeah, that's the ticket] the weapons department {;^))
Even bea has more guns than me. I'm just a half rack instead of a full house.
Come on down to the next shoot, omegabea, and bring alphabea with ya. Shoot, even a po boy like me manages to scrape up enough scratch to make it almost every year.

We'll sneak off and plink away at targets with our little .22's.
(that just don't sound right)

You’ve got to be joking. MA is more socialist than Texas will ever be. KBH sucks and won’t win the primary, but even she is better than all those Kennedys, Horseface Kerry and RINO Romney.

I don’t think I even own a 22, Phil. Dropped my first buck, a 12 point, with a clean shot through the neck with my 357 Magnum.Come to think of it I do own an old 22 pistol I used to shoot rats in the barn many moons ago.

I had vowed to get my permit (license) this year and need to get moving on that. Good luck at the shoot.

Wow, I'm impressed. Young people tend to do much better with long guns when they first start shooting.
Oh, but you didn't say that you were a young person when you shot that buck, did you. Sorry, my assumption.

...I used to shoot rats in the barn many moons ago.
We used to shoot dump rats, squirrels, 'possum, snakes, skunks and the occasional stray dog.
I still stay in practice for just that. I don't care much for varmints.

Good luck at the shoot.
Don't need any. It's a friendly shoot, not a competitive one. I've shot more pistols that belong to other people than I have my own.
I'm a cheapskate on ammo. I can't afford to shoot off to much hand ammo so the other folks are nice enough to let me shoot their handguns.

I had vowed to get my permit (license) this year and need to get moving on that.
For deer? It's a little late for that as the deer season is closed.
South Texas (30 counties) November 7, 2009-January 17, 2010
You've got plenty of time till next season.

Do me a favor if you see Debra...
Debra Medina Interview‏ - Candidate for Texas Governor
People are social beings, we crave belonging to a group.
Maybe in her world, but not in mine, so tell her not to speak for me as I'm more than capable of doing that for myself. I even keep the people I like at arm's length, and there are folks on this very thread who can attest to that.
And then there's this...
Texas Republicans must recognize that there are many areas where we share common ground with Hispanics. We must purposefully and genuinely reach out to this group (and to other groups) where there is a high likelihood of shared value. (Hispanics, not Tejanos...big difference to those in the know)
Snip...There is no room for compromise of values and ideals...
Yet your very own words show that you're going to do just that.
We must teach and we must engage...or Hispanics will continue to block vote straight ticket democrat...and in just a few years when that voting block alone comprises in excess of 50% of our population, conservatives will be forever a bygone relic in the Texas public square.
Sorry, but I for one can read between the lines and what I read is that you're willing to cave in (we must engage) for votes.

I don't like you, I sure as hell don't like Hutchinson and so I'm stuck with Perry. Sorry.

Let's hear it again in your own words...
Until and unless, Republican leadership is willing to make a concerted effort to address these issues and others that are uppermost in the minds of the Latino community in this state, we are likely to see that block vote continue straight ticket Democrat.
You're pandering to a subset of Citizens and I can't stomach that.

What part of “she has no official record of conservatism” other than her “promises” seems to elude you here rurgan ?

....anyone that votes for a no name unknown person be they man, woman, black , white or hispanic etc for an important powerful office like governor or senator or president is a blithering irresponsible idiot ! The kind of kool-aid drinking schmuck that put the likes of Obama in office.......and quit trying to play the race card. That tactic is for losers !

That’s my opinion skippy !

BTW, take due note of the change...
...Hispanics will continue to...
Snip...the Latino community in this state...
...so she can improve on her rhetoric.

If life long experienced politicians had not wrecked this country then you might have a point.

I would vote for Rush or Ann Coulter because I trust that they are conservatives. But you would rather have a politician with experience as if they have done anything positive for the U.S.A.

Medina is a Hispanic surname.
You said Medina is not Hispanic.
So where's the proof Medina is not Hispanic?

Six seconds on Google reveals her maiden name was Parker.

You're not too swift, huh?

Sorry, I’m not in town. I live in the country and only go to town to buy stuff. I don’t like veal. You’re still a dufus.

“Another example of a typical Medinabot; tell a lie by omission then haul ass.”

Who’s lying? I’d rather pay a sales tax on food than property tax. What I posted was from Medina’s website. I have no idea whether she wants to tax food or not. I do know, however, she wants to do away with property tax. So do I.

She the Ross Perot of the primary in that she can do nothing but take votes from Perry to help give us Hutchinson. Perry serves us much better than the senator would.

Y'all are the ones who have been caught lying.

Lil' omegabea had it rubbed in her face so thoroughly after shooting her ignorant mouth off on issues related to Texas gun laws that she cannot even respond to the post.

Omegabea, you thought you were being cute and smug when you pulled the tigers tail and found you were way to weak to face the teeth. You do understand that 100% of the FReepers on this thread know you are a fool, but only the Paul/Medinabots won't admit it.

BTW, the lie about killing a 12-point buck with a pistol was believed by exactly zero people. The "house full of guns" by zero as well. On the plus side you will be getting ping to the TexasCowboy shoot to further rub it in.

See ya on the Medina threads until she is gone!
