President Obama today at the National Prayer Breakfast raised the issue of his own eligibility for office – saying that people shouldn't be questioning his "citizenship."
Talking about the issue of "civility," he said, "Now, I am the first to confess I am not always right. Michelle will testify to that. But surely you can question my policies without questioning my faith, or, for that matter, my citizenship."
Obama continues, "Challenging each other's ideas can renew our democracy. But when we challenge each other's motives, it becomes harder to see what we hold in common. We forget that we share at some deep level the same dreams – even when we don't share the same plans on how to fulfill them."
The questions, however, over Obama's "citizenship," actually go to the core of the American republic. Multiple lawsuits have challenged that he is not qualified for the Oval Office under the Constitution's requirement that U.S. presidents be a "natural born citizen."
The plaintiffs – who run into the hundreds so far and who still have a number of cases pending at the appelllate level – have alleged that failing to meet that constitutional requirement means he actually is a usurper, with no actual authority to be president.
On a forum page at The Hill newspaper, one commenter wrote that the president has only himself to blame for the questions.

Anyway, Mr. President, just make it a point that there is no documents anywhere that are not being made public due to an unwillingness on your part to waive privacy privileges and the matter goes away.

The suit demands, among other things, that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton provide a copy of Obama’s birth certificate.
How about your patriotism, Barry?

What faith is that, Mr. Obama? If you are a lifelong Christian as you and your campaign staff claimed, then when and where were you baptized and who took you there?

Why does Obama bring this up?
His “victimhood,” and labelling of any questioners as “far right nuts” on this issue has given him a lot of political mileage.
The title is misleading. There are Freepers, unfortunately, who won’t read the report but who will take information from the title and repeat it - and then we Freepers become part of the uninformed, misleading, incorrect pipeline.

He sure presumes that he and we share the same dreams on some level. We absolutely do not - and he knows it. This is just more of his deflection by rhetoric.

He’s a racist...its been completely proven (20 year association with Rev Wright...his mentor) Throw the bum out just like they would with a KKK member. Screw obongo and his accomplices in the MSM.
When Obama was teaching constitutional law, his position was that the Constitution should be interpreted so as to allow the powerless to challenge the powerful.
Now that he is the most powerful person in the land, in courthouses across the country his lawyers use constitutional arguments to deny that ordinary people have the legal right to question his constitutional eligibility for the presidency.
His action in going to such lengths to prevent the Hawaiian authorities from releasing his birth records to my mind can only be for one of the following reasons:
- He has something in his birth records so damaging that he needs to hide it from the American people. This from a guy who had no problem admitting, for example, his use of drugs in the past.
- He fears a crack in the dam - that if he releases those records, he would face more pressure to release other records, for example his college records which might show that he renewed his Indonesian citizenship in college, which would have caused him to lose US citizenship by operation of law.
- He and Axelrod believe resisting disclosure is a good wedge issue, since with the MSM on their side, they can try to paint his political opponents as “birther” kooks and marginalize them.
None of these possible motivations says anything good about the president of the country.
Now that he’s mentioned it....

Anyway, the title is still misleading. We should strive to be more accurate and less the facility of misinformation.
