For starters look up Debra Medina's column 'Latinos and the GOP'

'It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?' Debra Medina

'Ignore them', Mrs Medina? Since when? What more do you want? Or shouldn't we ask?

Medina ad:

“Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?” (Medina’s cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)

She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. “Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.” But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: “I’d not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.”

No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.

She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.

So I’m sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.

No, thanks, I’ll stick with ‘ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.

The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties

*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress “One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”

Medina says she would “not militarize the border,..”

This woman is not taking seriously an invasion of illegal aliens threatening our nation’s very sovereignty.

Obviously she is not big on law and order in the State of Texas. Taking on Mexican drug cartels means little until we drastically take down the demand stateside for those drugs.

You’re misreading my statements.

I don’t expect her to militarize the border - I just repeated what she said, a statement incredibly stupid as there are things she as a governor has the power to do.

- All persons seeking employment in Texas must be screened for citizenship and/or legal resident status. Employers who violate this law will be charged with a felony, punishment mandatory jail time. Illegal aliens have committed a felony just by being in Texas and will be held by Texas until deported. All expenses to be billed to the Federal Government.

- No required state licenses of any kind issued to illegal aliens.

- No state funded aid given to illegal aliens except initial medical first aid, medical expenses to be billed to alien’s respective nation.

- Illegal aliens cannot make legal contracts within the State of Texas. This means that none will be able to rent or own a residence, or operate any kind of business.

This is just for starters - I’ll probably think of some more overnight. But you get my drift.

Medina is putting all the blame on us for having immigration laws that she doesn’t like and not for illegals being here. That’s unacceptable.

I agree. Can’t wrap my head around her. I don’t like Perry and can’t stand KBH. Until we find someone that will do the job(I am not sure good people want the job); I will stick with Perry.

“Employers who violate this law will be charged with a felony, punishment mandatory jail time”

How many Texas employers have served jail time in Texas for hiring illegals ?

Would seem to me if this law where enforced illegals would not find employment in Texas

Or are all illegals in Texas unemployed ?

It is my understanding it is illegal for any employer in the United States to hire any illegal alien

But the Law is very rarely ever enforced as far as I can see

Laws are only as good as the enforcement behind them

She didn’t specify. She said this (the quote is from post #15):

“...The majority of immigrants who are now here illegally have that status because the immigration process is no longer a process at all, but another example of runaway government red tape and bureaucracy. Individuals must be held accountable for their actions, and those who break our laws and violate our sovereignty cannot get a free pass, regardless of their circumstances. But coming to the greatest state of the greatest country in the world should still inspire hope, not fear. It should mean dealing with the world’s most efficient immigration system, not a more sinister version of the DMV.”

Initially it reads well and was no doubt carefully crafted to do so. She wants to placate Hispanics and satisfy the law and order folks. To me she seems to advocate an easier path to citizenship and lowering barriers to immigration, something which the majority of our citizens disagree. I believe the immigration system is fine, it just needs to be enforced. If the Feds won’t do that, then the states must shift for themselves and it won’t require militarization.

I’m not against immigration. For myself, I prefer to reduce the rate of immigration to a maximum of 200,000 per year or less and allow a wide diverse group of people into the country, not millions from one nation. We are no longer have vast frontiers and lots of open territory that can absorb millions and millions more people.

I tend to agree with your position on immigration

Until I see Medina come out and say I want this Law repealed or I am going to look the other way as illegals pour across the border , I have no problem with her position on immigration

Her stand on the Constitution-Liberty-Freedom and making sure government at all levels , creates a fair & honest system of gov. , a government that treats all it’s Citizens equally has her standing head & shoulders over the politics as usual that the record of perry or hutchinson that they have provided, IMO

If Medina is elected & does what she says and tells the Feds you have no business in Texas except for the powers granted to the Feds by the states , this will give other States the back bone to do the same

If we are really concerned about the encroaching Federal Gov. power that has crept into all of our lives , we have to start Now electing reps from the sewer cleaning commissioner to the potus to office who will carry out these policies, or we will be subjected to more Tyranny

It’s really that simple

Enforcement is essential and you’re correct; the feds aren’t enforcing federal immigration laws.

That doesn’t mean that the several states cannot pass and ENFORCE laws that conform to Federal statutes.

If a person cannot legally find a job, drive a car, work for living, or have unimpeded access to health care — it is time to leave.

I predict most will go home voluntarily. The criminals will be dealt with by law enforcement. There will always be a clever minority who manage to stay and survive.

The liberals and the ACLU will fight this vociferously. They would prefer grisly photo opportunities depicting women and children being evicted and forced over the border. I don’t want them to have that public leverage. Illegal aliens should go home because they either want to or have no other choice.

IIRC , maybe it was in the 2nd debate I will try to find it

I recall Medina saying she fully supported cracking down on Texas employers who hired illegal aliens
