The so-called "birther" movement apparently is alive and well at the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville.
While the bulk of the three-day affair has been spent on strategizing for the 2010 elections and figuring out how to grow the conservative activist base, convention-goers shifted their attention from tax-and-spending complaints to President Obama's citizenship during a rousing speech after dinner Friday night by WorldNetDaily.com founder Joseph Farah.
Farah, a conservative newsman whose raison d'etre of late has been to challenge Obama's eligibility to be president, used the bulk of his remarks to hit that point -- and got quite a welcome reception from the hundreds of tea partiers in the room.
"Where's the birth certificate?" he asked, echoing the words from a controversial billboard campaign he started. "It's a simple question and it has not been answered."
The room burst into applause. When he first brought up the issue, Farah got a standing ovation.
The WND head proceeded to contrast the supposed genealogical evidence behind Jesus' birth against the evidence behind Obama's birth.
"God didn't want there to be any doubt about Jesus' eligibility or qualifications to be the king of kings," Farah said. "There's a lesson in this story for Barack Obama. His nativity story is much less known."
He said Americans are being asked to "accept on faith" that Obama is a citizen.
Obama's presidential campaign released a copy of his "certification of live birth" showing he was born in Honolulu. But that hasn't settled the issue among hardened skeptics, as some theorists argue that's not official enough and want more proof.
For the most part, conservative commentators and mainstream Republicans have stayed far away from the "birthers," viewing it as a sideshow that does little to advance conservative causes.

Those at the tea party convention seem to have a multitude of causes, with fiscal responsibility and lower taxes topping the list -- but fears about Obama, and the possibility of the country somehow losing its identity and power, cut through.
The convention has treated patriotism as a lost art that it's trying to revive. Former Rep. Tom Tancredo's opening speech Thursday focused on that theme.
Before Farah spoke, convention organizer Judson Phillips held an impromptu Pledge of Allegiance, saying he'd had many requests. So the room full of dinner guests stood up, held their hands over their hearts and pledged themselves to the flag, after a hearty "USA!" chant.
I do not like how (by Demonrat design) the Tea Party delegates are largely being characterized (and sidelined) as "birthers".
I am encouraged that the Tea Party delegates insisted on saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Why don’t people in the press just ask him to produce an AUTHENTICATED BC and be done with it?

Who cleared Farah to give a speech on that? The Tea Party movement has got to be about IDEAS, not a conspiracy so toxic it strangles the movement in its crib before it even gets started.
Even if you buy into the birther stuff, what the hell does it have to with giving some philosophical flesh to the Tea Party?
Just part of his re-payment for his college “grants”?

You mean you KNOW Obama is a US citizen much less a natural born one? Well, congratulations, you’re the first and only one.
If you could prove he is not legal, what will be done? Who do you think will be willing to remove this bozo from office? Hell they can’t stop a pork filled bill or a lying to the grand jury President. How do you over turn the election of a president?
Because they KNOW he is not a Natural Born Citizen.
Not because of his place of birth, but the CIRCUMSTANCE of his birth. The ONLY way to be a Natural Born Citizen of ANY nation is to have two parents who were citizens and at birth ONLY hold ONE nationality, meaning also being born inside that nation’s territory. If the circumstances of your birth are such that you hold TWO, then you are NOT a Natural Born Citizen, because you are the citizen of two nations. THAT was the founders intent when they put that specific clause in the requirements for POTUS.
They considered it a matter of National security - knowing where a person’s loyalties lay, and that starts with your parents and where you were raised, the culture with which you associated and were affiliated with most closely. THAT is why the clause is there!
Obama at the instant of his conception was not and never could have been a Natural Born Citizen. He was the citizen of TWO countries, USA and Great Britain. His Dad was British!
The man is an Usurper, and the press as well as the entire congress FEAR the consequences of the American public REALIZING that we do NOT have a Legal and Constitutional government.
They FEAR this and they SHOULD! At this time, the Federal Government has only the thinnest veneer of legitimacy, and that has been made crystal clear to the press.
Now go a step further, we have an unconstitutional president, he is NOT bound by the constitution. The Congress certified this unconstitutional president, and in so doing broke and is now no longer bound by the constitution. DO NOT FOR AN INSTANT wonder why this congress and this president are pushing unconstitutional measures in congress.
Because Obama is NOT a constitutional president bound by the constitution along with congress, they CAN AND ARE DOING ANY DAMN THING THEY PLEASE including ROBBING America blind and giving out our tax dollars to whom ever they choose.
Every single last one of those who enabled this monstrosity and this treasonous act should be IN PRISON.
This is why Obama WANTS people obsessing over his COLB. If they are obsessing over that, an irrelevant issue, they ARE NOT obsessing over the REAL issue, hw isn’t a Natural Born Citizen of the United States because his father was British and because of that, so was Barack at the moment of his birth. Once the masses figure this out, THEN his ass is grass and he knows it. THAT’S why he’s keeping the COLB hidden, so people will obsess over that and not his British dad.
OBama’s mom married a guy who was still married with many children. Pretty much a quagmire, for Barry. Damn shame. Just think if he had his head on straight.
You sum up the situation perfectly. Obama must be attacked on this eligibility issue relentlessly until he is exposed and thrown out of office. Fox news picking up on the Farah Speech at the Tea Party convention is a great victory. Farah has been sounding the alarm on this since before the 2008 elections. The mainstream (lamestream) media are just as guilty in this coverup as the current members of Congress with the exception of Nathan Deal.
With Holder as AG and Ginzberg and Sotomayor in SCOTUS, our Justice Department and Judicial Department are being controlled by the ideology of the left, not the Constitution. Nevertheless brave American plaintiffs and their lawyers are navigating through the courts now over a year. A matter of this magnitude, the potential and likely usurpation of the office of POTUS, can no longer be ignored by the TV media. Beck and O'Reilly are on ego trips and refuse to have guests on their show like you who could explain the problem.

No I don’t “know” anything conclusively. Let me be clear: I don’t “CARE.” And nothing resembling enough people to be a force in U.S. politics cares either.
Birtherism has been a pointless distraction from the get-go. It’s rank desperation on its very premise, if you can’t beat someone at the ballot box, just declare he wasn’t qualified to run in the first place.
But birthers are looked at as cranks by landslide majorities, and it’s clear nothing is going to come of their beating this dead horse other than discrediting the conservative movement. Take this BS somewhere else the Tea Party is not the platform for it.

Obama wants and needs the Birther movement. It it were not there, then people would start asking questions about his British father he really doesn’t want to answer. Namely, how can a man be a citizen of two countries and be a Natural Born Citizen. Short answer, YOU CAN’T. Not of the USA or of ANY other nation.
He knows it. Congress knows it, and the press isn’t talking about it because the ramifications of an Illegal and unconstitutional government are HUGE. That can’t be understated, its HUGE. They FEAR the riots that it could bring if not handled very carefully. Rightly so. But as of this moment, we don’t have a constitutional government. Obama’s presence in the Oval Office has de-legitimized the entire Federal Government. It is only a thin belief that it’s all ok that is holding things together.
As soon as people recognize the truth.... its game over. Either Obama gets tossed out on his ass, the right thing IMHO, or we have chaos.
