SNIPPET: "An Iranian-backed Shia terror group that claims it seeks reconciliation with the Iraqi government has kidnapped a US civilian in Baghdad. The US recently released the top leader of the group under the guise of a reconciliation program, but the release actually was related to a hostage exchange.

The Asaib al Haq, or the League of the Righteous, kidnapped Issa T. Salomi, a US civilian contractor, in Baghdad in late January. Salomi went missing in Baghdad sometime after Jan. 23, the US Department of Defense noted in a press release on Friday.

The League of the Righteous issued a videotape of Salomi, who is pictured in US Army digital fatigues in front of a banner that reads “League of the Righteous, Imam Ali Regiment.”

The League of the Righteous has demanded that the Iraqi government release all members of the League and “bring the proper justice and the proper punishment to those members of Blackwater company that have committed unjustifiable crimes against innocent Iraqi civilians,” according to a partial translation provided by The Associated Press.

The kidnapping of the US contractor comes just a little more than a month after the US military released Qaiz Qazali, the leader of the League of the Righteous. Qazali was behind the kidnapping and murder of five US soldiers in Karbala in January 2007 and numerous other acts of terrorism before he was captured in March 2007."

BAGHDAD (AFP) – Iraqi authorities have released the leader of the Shiite militant group behind the kidnap of five Britons in May 2007, a source from the group and an interior ministry official said on Tuesday.

According to a source from the League of the Righteous, who did not want to be identified, Qais al-Khazaali was released from custody earlier on Tuesday.

An interior ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed Khazaali had been freed, but did not provide any details.

The League of the Righteous kidnapped a British IT consultant and his four bodyguards, all Britons, in Baghdad two and a half years ago.

While Peter Moore, the IT consultant, arrived in Britain over the weekend after 31 months in captivity, three of his bodyguards were killed and their bodies have been handed over to Britain.

The fourth is believed to be dead and Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said on Sunday that his body will be handed over in the coming days.

How much longer are we going to put up with Iran's treacherous conduct?

Yeah, I know, for at least 3 more years!

There was a time when kidnapping an American citizen would have brought a stern warning from our Leaders: "Desist and Release them immediately, or else!"

Now it's simply how can Foggy Bottom spin this as to not offend the mullah-mullahs less they get their knickers in a bunch!

We should give them 24 hrs to release the victim and if not, unleash x number of cruise missiles and not stop until they do!

Like I have been saying, all those protests there have not changed a thing in regards to the Iranian threat.

Palin, in her speech last night, criticized Obama for not having the goal of winning the war. To me, this criticism also applied to Bush. During the Bush Administration, the Iranians were building shaped-charge IED that can take out armored vehicles. They were supplying their trained terrorist groups in Iraq with these weapons and killing American soldiers. Bush did nothing to Iran.

Here's how you handle both problems. 1. Warn the Iranians to stop. 2. Bomb their intelligence offices, terror training camps and bomb factories. 3. Repeat as needed.
