Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
BufordP ping!
She’s right, as usual.
.
Should I make popcorn?
For appointing Hank Paulson
For allowing a loser like Barak Obama to come to power
I actually like Michelle Malkin’s post, but given the choice of The Texan or The Kenyan, it’s an easy choice.
To be fair, he did give us tax cuts and he and the Repub congress let the Assault Weapons Ban sunset.
I wish these Bush-bots would just leave him out of arguments against Obama. It’s counterproductive.
....Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system.....
Because this sucker is goin’ DOWN! - George W. Bush
He was better than Obama but I guess that is really not saying much.
Bbut, I had a job while W was Pres. not so now. I’m not liking this change.
Thanks, you know my soft spot!
I agree - at least Bush loves his country and the principles on which it was founded. But, he is exactly what has been wrong with the Republicans for a long, long time now. His approach has been to go socialist slower the Democrats, not to defend our economic and political freedoms.
It needs to be said. The Republicans need to clean up their act too. It’s being run by RINO’s.
“Islam is peace” - George W. Bush
A man who failed to identify the enemy right in front of our noses.
The "Miss Me Yet" gags (which began on the internet) were a ribbing that even in spite of his failings, he's still head and shoulders above the man who bows.
He should have championed a law against the Kelo decision. His lack of leadership on that was appalling.
GWB is a socialist progressive, but I repeat myself.
He supported our troops.
I love Michelle.
She will NEVER kiss ass.
There are certainly some things I miss about him. And Laura.
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter
There is freedom of speech, separation of powers... that sort of thing.
That only good thing about Obama being elected(on FR anyway), is not having to read the Bush-Bots tie themselves in knots trying to repudiate these obvious facts.
GWB got a form of partial birth abortion banned. GWB got us Supreme Court Justices Alito and Roberts both of whom will be with us for 20-30 years.
G.W. Bush and his “compassionate conservativism” was horse manure.
G.W. Bush was NO conservative.
He failed to push ANY of the conservative agenda/
BUT he was a truckload better than this marxist “magic nigro” punk.
George Bush wasn’t a perfect conservative like I am. So, I thought I’d waste a column pointing out how imperfect he is instead of examining something worthwhile.
That about sums it up.
Thanks to Bush we never had to suffer a President Gore or Kerry.
MM has got guts....
Malkin — right, as usual.
How about the fact that the national debt was $5.7 trillion when Bush was inaugurated and $10.6 trillion the day he left office?
Agreed. But they become fewer and fewer when we get beyond keeping our nation safe. And even then, DHS was a real bad move.
George Bush wasnt a perfect conservative like I am.
Thank you!
Think about it, people.
While she is certainly correct about these flaws, she left out a few things over that 8 year record.
*2 substantial across the board tax cuts
*2 well qualified conservative SCOTUS nominees
*Promoted and signed ban on partial birth abortion
*Fostered a booming economy
*Tried to partially privatize SS, which his own party torpedoed.
*Did not lift a finger to support the global warmers
*Reigned in the EPA
*Killed Clinton’s workplace ergonomics OSHA job killer
*Signed off on protecting gun manufacturers from the John Edwards of the world.
*Waterboarded enemy combatants.
*Refused US involvement in the ICC
*Killed off the ABM treaty
*And the biggest gift of all - He defeated Algore and John F’n Kerry
I prefer to praise with faint damn; as in “he did a better job than Carter”.
;)
She forgot collaborating with the Mexican Government, persecuting American border guards, the Dubai Port scam, and a few other things.
But otherwise, an excellant analysis of Mr. Bush’s flawed legacy.
The last four Presidents - Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and Obama have been progressively terrible. Obama is indisputably the worst of the bunch.
But I do NOT miss Bush - I miss Ronald Reagan.
self ping for tommorrow read
Michelle rocks
Yep.
(Interesting that a liberal like you agrees with Malkin about Bush, sick. VERY interesting....)

Yep. ALL of us patriots do, Mr President.
Was she this vocally anti-GWB when he was still president? Who is her pick for “perfect president?” Herself, I suppose.
Malkin is a malcontent who likes to shock and alarm. I stopped reading her a long time ago and, in my world, she has NO credibility.
Peas in a pod, so to speak.....
Better than Jerry Ford (the man who brought us “Justice Stevens”, Whip Inflation Now, and a series of booby hatch schemes? That’s an easy one, just like saying he was a better president than LBJ, the hapless incompetent Carter or Obama. Better than Nixon? No way. Nixon had tremendous faults but he opened China to the West as a coutnerweight to the USSR, prosecuted the Vietnam War over virulent opposition that eventually brought him down, cracked down on crime, and yes, he was quite bright and reasonably well-spoken, neither of which attribute describes GW Bush. Neither, of course, comes close to Reagan, who was the best president of the last half of the 20th Century and one of our five best overall.
Part of the thread holding America and our Constitution together.
Thank You, Lord, for President Bush!
None of this matters to Malkin. If she has any concern for our nation at all, it takes a far back seat to her own bloated estimation of herself and her bleatings.
I do not miss Bush!.....
1. The strength Bush showed after the 9/11 attack and the steadfastness he showed in Iraq when success there was on the line.
2. The appointment of two highly intelligent conservatives to the Supreme Court...and a bunch of conservatives appointed to the lower courts as well.
3. Saving the American economy from the Global Warming hoax. Bush paid a little lip service, but kept the damage to a minimum.
4. Increasing ties with India, Asia's largest democracy...and a natural balance to China's power.
I could go on but I am short on time. Conservatives have a right to be somewhat disappointed in President Bush...but to say he wasn't much better than Obama...no way.
