Texas Monthly: Watch out for Medina! She could win
Texas Monthly ^ | 10th Feb | Paul Burka

Posted on 02/10/2010 9:20:20 AM PST by takecontrol

I have been telling friends for a couple of weeks now that if Medina can raise $2 million by February 16 (the start of early voting), she will be governor. What this poll tells me is that Texans are sick and tired of Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison and their career politician credentials and their negative campaigns. Medina is Sarah Palin with gravitas and without the winks.

I don’t know a lot about her, but like her from what I have read/seen. I was really surprised to see Palin back Perry instead of Medina.

Versus a waffley on the border amateur who’s claim to fame is she thinks she can sue when she doesn’t get what she wants (eg when she sued the RNC in 2008 to try to block seating of delegates because Ron Paul lost).

Some people are so invested in being anti anything, they will buy anyone that sells them a bill of goods.

Too bad it takes so much money for good people to get elected.

Texas Monthly is prety much our local version of Mother Jones, with full blown GLBT and Ecofreakdom advocacy.

With that last name, all she has to do in Texas is win the primary — look who the Dems are fielding there. I am sending her money. It would be so wonderful to see this happen for the greater good of Texas. I hope people get behind her like they got behind Scott Brown. If she wins the primary, it will be interesting to see how Perry and KBH treat her.

If Medina wins it will make news as a repudiation of Sarah Palin.

I doubt it, more like a repudiation of career politicians

I believe she will make the run off.

"Medina is Sarah Palin with gravitas and without the winks."

No need for that snarky little put-down of Palin. He's not helping Medina with comments like that.

Medina's staunchest supporters are likely to be Tea Party/Palin folks.

Amen about Texas Monthly being mother Jones. It reminds me of those slick page mags like GQ, Vanity Fair, etc that you see in the dentist office. Very leftist, difficult to find the articles for all the advertising. Aimed square at women with disposable cash. Nothing Texan about it.

Texas highways is a *far better* alternative mag.

Yeah, but I do wish she would not base who she supports on friendship. Of course, I guess that’s asking a lot.

What has Median done that leads you to believe she would be a good governor?
