Interview with Sarah Palin (Palin *NOT* for Amnesty)
Univision ^ | October 26, 2008 | Univision

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty.

While her answer to the previous question is not to support deportation per the existing immigrations. Allowing them to remain in the country is amnesty.

I don't believe Sarah to be a liar, I just believe her to be wrong on this issue which is a very important issue.

But you've lied by omission.

Why did you post an incomplete interview which omitted the excerpt of Palin stating she did NOT "favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants"?

And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.

What do you think she means by that? Most of us are pretty sure what McCain means when he uses almost identical rhetoric.

Heck, I’m for amnesty. They can deport themselves back to their country of origin and we won’t prosecute for entering this country illegally.

If they want to come in legally thats quite alright.

Look at what the european immigration policies have got them.

I want to hear her say that she does not believe illegal aliens should be eligible for citizenship. This “pathway to citizenship” is the language of the McCain-Kennedy-Grahamnesty. And I want to hear her object to terms like “undocumented immigrant.” That’s like calling a burglar an “undocumented resident,” or a shoplifter an “undocumented purchaser.”

“I don’t believe we ought to have amnesty. I don’t think we ought to reward illegal behavior.”
— President Jorge Bush.

“It’s not an amnesty”
— Juan McCain

“Whoever is giving her advice is destroying her.”

Or she’s not smart enough to get off the training she received in order not to sound against John McCain.

Palin: we need to close the borders. They are called illegal aliens for a reason and if they are not going to follow the rules they should not be in our country.

It’s pretty simple I ratched that one down to the simple answer because its an easier answer than some politicians want it to make it be. you close the borders. You get more agressive about cracking down on the illegal aliens and we take it serious what our border patrol officers are trying to do

LARS: The amnesty proposal that was defeated in Congress — in your view, was that amnesty for illegals and would you back amnesty for a path to citizenship, as the current president calls it?

SARAH PALIN: No, I’m not for amnesty. Let’s ratchet this down quite simply to remember what we’re referring to. Illegal aliens are called “illegal” for a reason.

We need to secure our borders and I am not for amnesty. And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.

Question: If a nuclear bomb is smuggled across the border and blows away a city, who cares about dancing?

Look, I hope she makes it clear that safe borders will be a top priorty. Then I hope she’s our next president.

Q: "Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?"

A: "PALIN: NO, I DO NOT."

Not even Obama (or Bush, Palin, and McCain) state they are for amnesty. They know this is political death. Instead, they use "path to citizenship" as their euphemism. Simply read the very next question and answer.

“While I don’t approve of them coming here illegally, I do have the brains to recognize that a relative handful of the illegal alien population has the potential to make good American citizens. Apparently, so does Sarah.”

Where did she say a handful?

Well, there you go then.

No matter what she says, you won't believe her. Unless she says to throw every last illegal out of the country. In which case she would end her chance to be President.

Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.

She's a bigger man than me, because I could never put up with the BS like this that it takes to be a conservative politician nowadays. Anyhow - Have a pleasant evening!

"While her answer to the previous question is not to support deportation per the existing immigrations. Allowing them to remain in the country is amnesty. "

That is absolutely right. I don't care what you call it, but if your answer to illegal immigration isn't, "they have to leave this country, and if they want to come back, they have to get AT THE BACK of the line - the line of people who are waiting to legally enter this country" - then you're supporting amnesty.

No fines. No background check. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Just get out.
