Debra Medina implodes on Glenn Beck's show
Kansas City Star ^ | 2/11/10 | By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

Medina is facing off in a GOP primary with Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Medina's absurd comments to Beck about U.S. government involvement in 9/11 included this gem:

"I don’t have all of the evidence there, Glenn, so I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard, there are some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that."

Perry and Hutchinson immediately ripped Medina for such ignorant comments

“I think that he is different from his father, for one thing, it looks like he will become a Senator which is a state wide office and not just a Congressional seat that can elect radicals.”

Yeah, and I’ll bet you thought Medina was different also. Well, she sure is, she’s a truther.

Conservatives don’t believe in raising taxes on the rich but that doesn’t mean we believe in raising taxes on the poor in order to give a tax cut to the rich. That’s just messed up. Cut the govt spending and give a tax cut to everyone.

It doesn’t hurt one bit, nancy.

I guess you are used to it, Clementine.

A commendable coping mechanism I suppose.

Thank you. I see I have some homework do you. I live just outside of TX state lines and have some interest in what’s going on there.

Renters pay taxes through their rent money. The property owner doesn’t absored that tax from his profits. They pay taxes, insurance, upkeep, routine maintenace, etc just like if they owned a home and was paying a mortage on it.

She’s trying to float a proposal that is much beyond just the Gov. to able to accomplish. To even come close it will need the support of the legislature, all the individual taxing districts statewide and in each of the 254 counties. What she proposes maybe good but it’s far from an easy chore to accomplish.

You want to run a truther in Texas and turn the seat over to the Democrats because of some distant possibility in a future Presidential race?

I think that Texans don’t need your help.

“...but are we allowed to wonder about events at all?”

Absolutely not!

Well, you can, just don’t bother these, the Proudest Members of the RINO Cult, with your treasonous “wondering.”

I’m not a troll, just a late bloomer. FReepers have a wealth of information and I greatly appreciate them.

She also said that this stuff was “mud” being thrown at her and that “I’ve not taken a position on that”. That is not an affirmative.

Especially followed up by her statement after the interview.

Even if you do not believe her followup, then that would make everyone who says they don’t have enough information to say if Obama is a Natural Born Citizen or not a “birther”.

Sorry, this doesn’t fly with me.

You are clearly missing the point. Dozens of FReepers said to you specifically, she is not qualified because she CLEARLY believes 9/11 was an "inside job". Her backtrack statement was laughable.

Anyone who would vote for a "truther" has no business even being on these boards, you belong on a fringe website.

If you think a 9/11 truther will beat a democrat in a general election then you need your head examined immediately.

This doesn't make FReepers liberals as you are stating. We are just realists.

The so-called poor are net tax consumers, not net tax payers. There is no foreseeable tax increase on the “poor” that would render them net taxpayers, either. Moreover, they have no right to convert people who work harder than they do into plantation workers for their benefit. The so-called rich, pay for virtually everything.

You aren't the brightest person here are you? Steve Forbes, Governor Palin, Dick Armey, that is starting to be a pretty good collection of endorsements, Who are you supporting in that race.

You omit the fact that too many Americans don’t pay taxes.

I support a national sales tax that everyone must pay

A tax increase and inflation are inevitable.

Let us know.. who are Perry’s people? Oil, cattle, real estate condo developers? And who are Kay Bailey’s— I really can’t stand her waffly BS too inside the beltway. The border ranchers who have to deal with illegals and crime the Feds will not police under Obambi—who would they support? I’m curious on these issues was/is Medina stronger for the regular conservative small businessperson. Is she a Peroista? My statements about 9/11 are after considerable fact searching and questioning... so this “setup” question was targeted for an expedient political reason that may truly have nothing to do with who supports Medina but which took her down quick. That said, a simple No would not have hurt her a bit, and raises a whole lot of other questions. I’m a Constitutional right winger— we should return to the government our Founders intended. But we should not give in to irrational fears. This “truther” thing resembles the JFK assassination conspiracy perpetual business. Not to open yet another can of worms. I love Texas, think I said that, and I hope they secede, cause we all need to show who is the boss. My people did in 1860. To quote Davy Crockett in Congress- “Y’all can go to Hell, I’m goin to Texas”

I can read a transcript, and throwing the Texas Governorship to the Democrats to prevent the possibility that a Republican winner may run for the Presidency in the future, seems too smart by half.

“...she CLEARLY believes 9/11 was an “inside job”.

Proof?

“...you belong on a fringe website.”

Yeah, I’m beginning to think that myself lately. Those folks that put together the MIAC Report thought so too. Strange how things change. Yesterday, a patriot, today, a fringe whackjob.

She’s not a truther. I’m not either.

I do prefer ugly questions and truth to the cozy nipple of a political party, however.
