HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The wife of the late congressman John Murtha is being urged to run for the House seat that he held for nearly four decades, a newspaper reported Friday.
"While people have been mindful that this is a difficult time for the family, many have called to suggest Joyce as the perfect person to hold her husband's seat," Murtha spokesman Matthew Mazonkey told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Doesnt much matter to Democrats who they put in the seat all they have to do is say Aye when told.
Sympathy, name recognition, likelihood the spouse is of the same party, access to (re-)election funds, and knowing where the skeletons are.... though none are really the qualifications that we know SHOULD exist.
We just had a convicted felon told he could not run for city council down here. Go figure. I thought a felony conviction would have been a plus in Louisiana politics.

Oh for God’s sake....take it from a MO Freeper......IT DOESN’T make them qualified. We had Carnahan’s wife to deal with and Bill Emerson’s..(still serving)wife. Bill Emerson was Conservative and his wife, JoAnn, since married to a trial lawyer, has taken a hard turn left. Carnahan was installed under nefarious circumstances when her husband, Mel, was killed 3 weeks prior to the election (senate). Carnahan, was still on the ballot and won over John Ashcroft (48K votes) and she was installed. It’s a ploy by the libtards because wives are easily manipulated.
It’s a disgusting and unconstitutional precedent (imo).
