The link below will take Freepers to what happens when idiots forget about the power of the ocean as a Maverick wave comes in and smacks down the non believers:

Suppose all those people would be wearing the “water generators”?

Good find, thanks.

Why don't we give all the greenies brooms and tell them to go out and sweep back the tides?

Good idea.

Roosevelt's WPA actually did constructive work like building sidewalks and outhouses when they weren't leaning on their shovels.

But sweeping away the tides seems appropriate for this day and age.

This wind power debacle is a farce of Bernie Madoff proportions lining the pockets of people like T. Boone Pickens, and producing very little electricity.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) bought 22,000 shares of Pickens' CLNE stock at IPO in March 2007 for between $50-$100,000, which would now be worth $363,572 at today's close.

Yeah, and there's never been a dime of subsidy toward any other energy, or an abandoned coal-fired power plant or rusting power lines anywhere.

It's always fun to pick on an easy target people know so little about, like wind mills.

More like two dimes - 19 cents per kilowatt hour.

That was a scary video.

I sent it to some younger relatives and friends, who made fun of me not going to the coast to do some fly fishing the past couple of weeks.

People went to the coast to see the big surf and guess what, they found it.

Makes you wonder sometimes doesn’t it?

Silly monkeys. Kind of explains recent voting trends though doesn’t it?

“Silly monkeys. Kind of explains recent voting trends though doesn’t it?”

Thanks for the interesting and probably very accurate observation.

It would have been interesting to see how many Pious, Subaru and old Volvo’s with Obama stickers on them were in the illfated parking lot.

My wife and I noticed years ago the obvious plastering of liberal stickers on the vehicles driven by the California Surfers along with the hate GW stickers.

Liberal groupthink. The madness of the masses.

It is this propensity in human history that the Founders warned us about. That only an educated and moral people could make it work as it should.

We aren't any more. Directly subverted by those in power and our own laziness.

So, you get stuff like what happened on that wall. People KNEW the surf was rough. They could SEE it getting higher and higher. Even Lemmings would have known what was coming.

Now let's couple this back to the main topic of the thread. People hear "wind, wave, solar" power and think it sounds all "green" and happy. They never stop to think about the science behind it, what kind of engineering is required, what the over all impact might be, or if it's even economically viable yet. It's that same lack of cogent thought that also makes people think that just because they are standing on a sea wall that it makes them immune to the waves coming in.

Exactly on target.

This group think ends up with total ignoring the laws of science and nature to push their agenda.

Decades ago when the eco bastards were pushing the Wind Mill/Machines for power, two of our younger relatives were very concerned about where those wind machines were being placed.

One was an excellent Duck Hunter and an expert then and now on the migratory patterns of ducks and geese. His younger brother was into raptors in this area and was concerned about the wind machines impact on eagles and other protected raptors. Also, he was beginning his training as an engineer and knew that a big Canadian Goose might wreck any wind machine that struck the goose.

The Wind Machines were placed in the migratory flight areas and slaughtered ducks and geese that flew into them in the dark and even day light. Then, the raptors came in for la machined ducks/geese bodies on the ground, and they got slaughtered.

Of course the leftwing mediots and mediots buried any stories of the bird slaughter and damages to the wind machines.

Agreed. Not sure what to do about that. Kind of makes you want to go around slapping random people to try and wake them up...

Still one of the best articles on long term wind generation I have read.

I have driven to these wind mills, and the wind blows continuously. Thought it was a great idea at the time. To see the end result is staggering. Not even a 20 year life span!

If wind power can't work here, in Hawaii, and be economically feasible in a place where all energy is imported, then where could it work?

Found this old article about wind power. Thanks for posting it way back when.

Wind power is more about EDF lawyers fleecing taxpayers around the world than it is about sustainable energy.
