White House Sets the Table to Use 'Reconciliation' Rules to Finish Health Care Reform
ABC News ^ | Feb. 22, 2010 | Jake Tapper

White House officials today publicly made it clear that should Thursday’s bipartisan health care reform summit not result in a legislative kumbaya, with Democrats and Republicans setting aside differences to come together on a bipartisan bill, Democrats are likely to pursue a legislative path for finishing up the bill that includes using controversial “reconciliation” rules in the Senate, requiring a majority vote instead of the 60-vote threshold that has become par for the course.

“The president wants and believes the American people deserve an up-or-down vote on health reform,” White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said Monday morning on a conference call, using the language to describe a 51-vote majority vote, instead of the 60-vote threshold to stave off a potential filibuster.

Pfeiffer also acknowledged that the health care reform proposal the White House posted this morning was designed with practicality –- not theoretical constructs –- in mind. White House officials posted the Senate Democrats’ bill that passed by a party-line vote on Dec. 24, 2009, and a list of fixes to that bill.

The idea is that the House would pass the Senate bill and the House and Senate would both pass a legislative “fix.”

Why should Republicans participate if their votes are not needed? This is a power grab to contol our lives.

What should be so surprising in Obama using the Stupid Party as cover for shoving it through in reconciliation?

Folks, we’re about to witness the final fall of the United States of America, and its capitulation to fascist totalitarian rule.

Don’t kid yourself with any misplaced sense of satisfaction that this will spell electoral doom for the Dems in ‘10 and ‘12. Once it’s done, it’s done. Whatever we “win” in November won’t be enough to undo it, and there won’t be any recognizable scraps of our country left to save by 2012.

1. There is not guarantee that the Senate version of the bill can pass the house.

2. Not all of the Senate bill can be passed as a reconciliation item.

3. The Republicans can use Senate rules to slow down the entire Senate if the Democrats try to pull a fast one.

4. This is a desperation move to pass something this year. When your opponent is desperate, they will make mistakes.

And to think of all the times the Republicans threatened to do this but then backed-off in the interest of civility. Dimwits.

Why should Republicans participate if their votes are not needed?

To share the blame via bipartisanship.

When will true Americans get elected to higher office?
This country is in terrible trouble when we cannot trust anyone elected to higher office. We sure cannot trust what we see and hear on t.v. either. Journalist’s credibility is also gone with the wind.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.

Journalist’s credibility is also gone with the wind.

Credibility was gone when they no longer were reporters and they became journalists.

If the GOP does not show up, then the GOP becomes the issue and the media Meme.

We have nothing to fear on Thursday if we stick to our principles, articulate our beliefs, and not be intimidated by BO.

I want Senator Coburn speaking for us. A physician.

"Journalists are now Socialists too!"

To be fair, you'd have to go back several generations to find a time when this was not true.
