Three days before President Obama's supposedly bipartisan health-care summit, the White House released a new blueprint that Democrats say they will ram through Congress with or without Republican support. So after election defeats in Virginia, New Jersey and even Massachusetts, and amid overwhelming public opposition, Democrats have decided to give the voters want they don't want anyway.
Ah, the glory of "progressive" governance and democratic consent.
"The President's Proposal," as the White House document is headlined, is in one sense a notable achievement: It manages to take the worst of both the House and Senate bills and combine them into something more destructive. It includes more taxes, more subsidies and even less cost control than the Senate bill...
Price controls are always the first resort of national health care...this new White House gambit is merely a preview of ObamaCare's inevitable planned medical economy, which will reduce choice and quality.
The coercive flavor that animates this exercise is best captured in the section that purports to accept the Senate's "grandfather clause" allowing people who like their current health plan to keep it. Except that "The President's Proposal adds certain consumer protections to these 'grandfathered' plans....
The larger political message of this new proposal is that Obama and Democrats have no intention of compromising on an incremental reform, or of listening to Republican, or any other, ideas on health care. They want what they want, and they're going to play by Chicago Rules and try to dragoon it into law on a narrow partisan vote via Congressional rules that have never been used for such a major change in national policy. If you want to know why Democratic Washington is "ungovernable," this is it.

The republicans cannot be serious about meeting with this reptile...What are they thinking???
I know where I would like to shove it! Nothing this poser doesn’t deserve!
Please not to diss reptiles. They are honorable, if creepy, creatures.
At this point, any conservative who isnt willing to talk openly and LOUDLY about secession and reorganization will be shown to be a TRAITOR and/or a COWARD.
Under a secession and reorganization plan, a number of states would secede and then re-assemble under the U.S. Constitution (AS WRITTEN) as the Reorganized United States of America. All U.S. states would be invited to join - and most would.
The R-USA would have no obligation to pay the unconstitutionally acquired debts of old USA.
They will meet with Obama on this.
LOL...Sorry about degrading the reptiles...
Don't vote party or candidate; VOTE REPUBLIC!
Speaking of Republicans. Simpson’s chatter is turning my stomach
“They plan to raid 401Ks etc. to pay for the trillions theyve just wasted. Well get an IOU. So much a month promised from the funds when we reach retirement age”
If he does this, violent revolt is morally justified. This would be nothing more than an outright theft by the revolutionary socialists we call democrats. It is always moral to use the force needed to overcome a thief. This isnt a tax,, it’s nothing but theft.
I wonder what Boy Wonder is going to do when the Red Chinese tell him that they will not finance his KenyanCare. He’s setting himself up for a real dose of reality.
Time to bring back tar and feathering. I fear we can’t wait for elections, inasmuch as they don’t listen to us anyway.
What, no tar-n-feather in between?
With all the finesse of a bull in a china shop.
General James Mattoon Scott: Where are you now that we need you?
Not really. He’ll be long out of office when the fan gets hit.
I’ll show up, but I don’t know what I am going to do? The Berlin wall fell with out a shot.
This fool seems to be traveling along the same road as Chavez is.
They are complete fools if they don't.
The "summit" will be televised, if you recall. You don't want the President pointing at some unoccupied chairs.
The best approach: attend...be respectful...define the issue...stand your ground.
If the GOP makes their case and the President ignores them, they'll win the meeting.
It's for sure the media isn't going to make their case for them if they don't show up.
