Meet kinder, gentler Glenn Beck: New 'global warming' believer
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/23/10 | MediaMatters

While polls show more people drifting away from acceptance of "global warming," the newest superstar among conservatives – Glenn Beck – is embracing it.

"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says.

He also thinks it could be caused partly by man's activity.

At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products.

"I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."

The kinder, gentler, greener and warmer side of Beck, known as a firebrand conservative, came to light in an interview in USA Weekend.

Beck also has lots of friends on the other side of the political spectrum, he reveals. He calls George Clooney "a good, honest man." Beck says the two of them had an extended conversation about the genocide in Darfur.

"We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation," Beck says. "That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He's a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it."

Beck's personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate, says the magazine report.

Hamblin’s star fizzeled for a lot of much more important reasons. He touched on topics that his network considered “untouchable,” and did it repeatedly after being warned.

Sarah did not say anything on purpose or accidentally that was of liberal views. They nailed her because of things she said that were not political.

What they did to her was what they did to Dan Qual ever the word potato.

Glen made statements that were downright leftist leaning. Big Huge Difference.

If they wrote that he is stupid on foreign affairs because he said he could see Russia from Alaska, that would be different.

So please do not take my statement and twist it like that.

FreeRepublic has become diluted in recent years.

We used to be a much more active bunch, but now its mostly armchair. The really hot freepers have moved on.

Glenn Beck, while amusing (I watch him each day at 3:00pm here in UT) is everything I’ve figured him to be:

Part patriot
Part entrepreneur
Part thief
Part egomaniac

GB is a guy that we’ve seen so many times before. Like Morton Downey Jr.

I don’t want him to run for office. I don’t want anyone to nominate him for office.

While he is entertaining, he is not a serious human being. And it’s possible that he is so intellectually “light” that he might be downright dangerous.

And for those of you who are unsure, I suggest you compare Mark Levin, someone who completed law school by age 22 and worked in the Reagan administration to Beck...who....didn’t do a damn thing for conservatives.

I know.

"Conservatives" bashing a successful person for doing and promoting the very things that made him successful.

Go figure.

OK, I agree on that. But he also began stating things that made conservatives like me cringe. I personally heard him say things that made me scratch my head.

Either way, you get my drift about shootings stars that come and go.

Considering how many here cannot see through such an impostor, it may soon be time. (entropy?)

Beck didn’t make those statements. I didn’t realize that you believed the article. I thought you were saying that he should have known they would lie about what he said. But don’t twist my words, either. I never said anything bad about Palin. I was being sarcastic.

i am going to wait and see and make my own judgment i guess. i have problems with Farah and am not inclined to take his word for anything. i am having a tough time catching Beck this week because my kids have basketball and hockey games most every day this week in the afternoon. if i knew how to run the dang dvr i’d dvr it, maybe i will see if i can figure that out.

Uhh, no, not to the intelligent.

Got it.
Dump on Beck and call him names -- "intelligent."
Worship Al Gore and James Hansen --- "intelligent."

If I ever aspire to that type of intelligence, I'll be sure and read USA Today religiously.

It may be beck now but could be most anyone that steps into the limelight next.

Yep, we used to applaud and want to emulate successes.

Now we subject them to ridicule and accuse them of ulterior motives.

Glenn has a unique style, I would assume he's probably the same in person, he is who he is on TV.

If people don't like it they don't have to watch but there is no reason to come on this forum with terms like "useful idiot" "divide and conquer" etc.

Makes me question the motives of the poster. Why would anyone show up on a thread that they had no interest in or about someone they don't like, there has to be a motive.

Pamela Geller is an amazing conservative. Awesome, in fact.

I'll take your word for it, I just never heard of her until today. I'll look forward to hearing more from her in the future.

But the point still remains that I was fully aware of everything that was in the link you provided without ever reading anything by her.

With the Internet, everything spreads so fast and there is obviously no shortage of sources.

For every story that comes about there are a million Bloggers to cover it.

Re: Beck's is exactly what you see. A dumbazz.

Oh Really? He's either way too dumb for you, or way too smart.

Anyone who is aware of how Beck exposes the crap out of the revolutionary communist left every single day, either doesn't know beans about the subject, is on the left themselves, or is simply too stupid to have a conversation with, at least not an intelligent one.

I did not say I believed it, I said the difference between the interview of Palin and the interview of Beck were completely different.

Until I investigate more and personally hear him deny it, I am on the side leaning that he did say what the interviewer wrote.

But I do know he attacks Republicans way too much.

I posted this article because I wanted to get to the truth. I have always been of the mindset that if I need to know something, and want the truth I come here.

Those of us at FreRepublic are the most informed individuals on the internet. So I like to ask the most informed people on the internet. My fellow Freepers.

Then I will contemplate, and meditate, and pray for wisdom from God. Eventually God will open up my mind and i will see the truth. It works every time it’s tried.

All that being said, Glen Beck is not my cup of tea, so I do look at things he says and does with a jaundiced eye.

And you just, my friend, made my point.

It will be nearly impossible to find a blogger who attributes a breaking story to GB. That’s because he takes the work of other people.

Pamela Geller is a respected blogger. She’s been around a long time, producing many books and in multiple languages, making GB look like an amateur. P. Geller gets interviews with international figures.

I don’t mind GB. I know that he eventually is going to come off the rails. I don’t mind that either.

I just hope he does’t take serious conservatives on the trip.

WTH is happening to these people? Yet another case of cranial squishiness. C’mon Glenn — who paid you?
