The HomoCon Tipping Point: Why CPAC Was a Milestone Weekend for Gays
Big Journalism ^ | Feb 23, 2010 | Bruce Carroll

Posted on 02/23/2010 12:24:11 PM PST by DesertRenegade

(excerpt) This moment at CPAC is even more important for the conservative movement as it happened at an important time when there is already a generational change going on in America. Boomers are fading, Xer’s are ruling, and Millenials are finding their way. Forty-eight percent of those who participated in the CPAC straw poll last week identified themselves as students. They are the future of conservativism. And they shouted down an anti-gay bigot.

There will surely be other homocon-related clashes within the conservative movement, just as the Democrat Party has regularly used the gay community as pawns in their re-election schemes for decades. But as the late gay political icon Harvey Milk, who started out as a Republican, famously said:

Gay people, we will not win our rights by staying silently in our closets… We are coming out. We are coming out to fight the lies, the myths, the distortions. We are coming out to tell the truths about gays, for I am tired of the conspiracy of silence, so I’m going to talk about it. And I want you to talk about it. You must come out. Come out to your parents, your relatives.

Last week at CPAC we saw the many years of work by dedicated conservative gays and lesbians standing up for their values and the principles of freedom and liberty finally pay off. There was a tipping point for gays in America last week at CPAC. It happened because they have been coming out to their parents, friends and relatives over time… as American conservatives who just happen to be gay.

Not liberal, but simply pointing out that you may not want to banish all those who you do not see as morally pure from the movement as it may be counterproductive.

The only thing they are conservative on is guns and taxes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are good on one other issue: complete privatization of education. Other than that, and the issues you mention, they might as well be San Francisco Democrats: pro-abortion, pro-drug, anti-military, anti-borders.

I have sex with women. I just know that everyone was dying to know that.

When you realize that the Islamofascist are attempting a takeover with the MIC, it makes sense. Muslims hate Homosexuals and even allow the killing of such.
Where will they go...Repubs ofcourse. Only sane place in American politics.

“Therefore, conservatives should banish those who are gay”

They are 2% of the population. They ought not let the door hit them...well, where they’d like it. Butt seriously, you apparantly believe that it is perfectly fine for a group to form under the auspices of “conservatism” in order to push a militant gay agenda.

Why is that?

Ya know, I have noticed an extreme prejudice against libertarians on this forum lately

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that this is a conservative website, not a Libertarian website. I'm sure there are plenty of other sites where you can chat with the many people in this country who actually vote Libertarian. "Many" being about 1% of the electorate.

“I believe the war on drugs is a failure, and is a complete disregard for the constitution.......does this mean I cannot be a conservative anymore??????”

It means that you are likely a Libertarian, but you either haven’t yet recognized this or you have but realized that that fringe party is going nowhere.

"It’s a fine line as I know several gays who.... ...and do not advertise their sexuality or promote their lifestyle."

So..If they don't advertise it then how do you know they are gay? (Just kidding)

Personally I don't care about what people do in their bedroom. I do care what people are allowed to promote at a supposedly "conservative" conference.

as morally pure

As has been pointed out, it isn't a question of moral purity but a question of allowing degeneracy to act as if it's normal. Conservative means just that, conservative. Pride in perversion is not a conservative idea.

Again, Rome rotted from within. Are you supporting a replay in America?

The writer is a Log Cabin Republican, which is to say a professional fag. So it’s not surprising that he is cheering them on. Here’s his profile from Big Journalism:

Bruce Carroll
Bruce M. Carroll Jr. has been involved in Republican politics since he was 14-years-old, growing in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He credits his Mom for becoming involved in politics and government as she worked for US Congressman Robert S. Walker (ret.) for 20 years.

In addition to active involvement in numerous Pennsylvania Republican grassroots campaigns, Bruce was elected as the youngest borough councilman in the State of Pennsylvania at age 21 in 1992. Bruce worked for the Pennsylvania State Republican Party and PA Senate Senator Earl M. Baker in the early 1990s. Bruce also served as a board member for the Philadelphia chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans in the late 1990s.

During his college years at Syracuse University (1986-90), Bruce was Editorial Page Editor, then Editor In Chief of the award-winning daily newspaper, The Daily Orange.

In September 1994, Bruce launched the very successful gay conservative political blog – GayPatriot.org. GayPatriot was an original member of the PajamasMedia blogger network. GayPatriot receives approximately 100,000 visitors each month and has had over three million unique visitors since its launch. In 2009, Bruce became the Treasurer of the new gay conservative group,
GOProud.org.

Bruce’s professional work experience includes 15 years in healthcare policy and government relations in the biotechnology industry. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC and lives with his partner of 10 years, John, and their three dogs, Saxby, Shadow and Marley. Saxby was named after US Senator Saxby Chambliss after his surprising electoral win in 2002.

Has he ever written anything for Big Journalism before? I hope not. And I hope this is that last time he’s invited to write for them. As I’ve said elsewhere, there’s nothing wrong with gays joining the conservative movement as long as they keep their sex lives to themselves. But we don’t need to have them instructing us about “gay rights,” thank you very much. If Breitbart follows up on this cr*p, it will be another jump the shark moment and a real pity after all that he has done recently.

He just gave a great speech at CPAC, rejecting multiculturalism. That’s right, we don’t need this kind of in-your-face multiculturalism, thanks very much.

I think this needs to be named for what it was: FudgePAC.

If they think we’re going to go along with this, they can go screw themselves. And some of these freaks actually will.

Finally, how was Meghan received there? Must be hard to give a speech with duct tape over her mouth and “End H8” on her face.

However, even though most of the above mentioned that I know are Republican, they all see conservatives as having an irrational view of homosexuality as each of them and functions well in society.

What does "functions well" mean? If staying out of jail and paying taxes is the measure of functioning well than lets take a look at our irrational views of drunks, philanderers, pedophiles, smokers, eaters of fast food, progressives, mimes, and drivers of large SUV's!

“Does your wife know?”

My fiance does, and she is quite thrilled about it, wouldn’t want to be getting into a sexless marriage ya know?
Actually I used wrong terminology in my post. I should have said “I am attracted to women” rather than “I have sex with women” as I am not currently married, I am not currently....well, I believe the Bible.

If they are just 2% of the population, how is it they could attempt to push their agenda?

Did the gays at CPAC attempt to push Gay Marriage?

Did the gays at CPAC attempt to push Gay Adoption?

Did it occur to you that well educated gays with high incomes and no children may have the very same economic and tax concerns as other conservatives?
