The HomoCon Tipping Point: Why CPAC Was a Milestone Weekend for Gays
Big Journalism ^ | Feb 23, 2010 | Bruce Carroll

Posted on 02/23/2010 12:24:11 PM PST by DesertRenegade

(excerpt) This moment at CPAC is even more important for the conservative movement as it happened at an important time when there is already a generational change going on in America. Boomers are fading, Xer’s are ruling, and Millenials are finding their way. Forty-eight percent of those who participated in the CPAC straw poll last week identified themselves as students. They are the future of conservativism. And they shouted down an anti-gay bigot.

There will surely be other homocon-related clashes within the conservative movement, just as the Democrat Party has regularly used the gay community as pawns in their re-election schemes for decades. But as the late gay political icon Harvey Milk, who started out as a Republican, famously said:

Gay people, we will not win our rights by staying silently in our closets… We are coming out. We are coming out to fight the lies, the myths, the distortions. We are coming out to tell the truths about gays, for I am tired of the conspiracy of silence, so I’m going to talk about it. And I want you to talk about it. You must come out. Come out to your parents, your relatives.

Last week at CPAC we saw the many years of work by dedicated conservative gays and lesbians standing up for their values and the principles of freedom and liberty finally pay off. There was a tipping point for gays in America last week at CPAC. It happened because they have been coming out to their parents, friends and relatives over time… as American conservatives who just happen to be gay.

If they are just 2% of the population, how is it they could attempt to push their agenda?

Did it occur to you that well educated gays with high incomes and no children...

They can push their agenda a heck of a lot easier than they can conceive children.

“Did the gays at CPAC attempt to push Gay Marriage?
Did the gays at CPAC attempt to push Gay Adoption?”

Why limit your good friends?

From their website;

4 - DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL REPEAL - Repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.

7 - DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION - Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.

So, it is your opinion that a gay cannot be conservative?

Is that what I said?

I did not mention Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

7 - DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION - Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.

Oh, so these gays that were at CPAC believe in State’s Rights and oppose the Federal Government dictating how states must define marriage?

I love the irony!

For good reason. It would have been detrimental to your apparant world view that it is perfectly conservative for one man to place his penis into the sh*t canal of another man, call it love and expect society to accept it.

It would appear to trumandogz that Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment is conservative, we need to stop fighting for traditional marriage and welcome these fudgepackers with open arms!

Just don’t turn your back on them.

There is nothing “libertarian” about the sodomite movement or the CPAC controversy. The real source has been that conservatives have given their children to the government schools to be indoctrinated into accepting the sodomites’ lifestyle. Now we are surprised that young people can’t see anything wrong with it.

Gay marriage should be decided on the state level and not on the federal level.

“Gay marriage should be decided on the state level and not on the federal level.”

By judges or a popular vote?

Exactly, for every “conservative” pushing the homosexual agenda that enters the tent, 5 to 10 social conservatives will leave the tent.

Let the perahps 1/2 of 1% fo the population that are “gay conservatives” decide whether to prioritize their views on the homosexual agenda or their views on low taxes, small government, freedom, national security, etc..

When you are a tiny minority, with very unusual views, you shouldn’t expect the majority to go along with your odd views. You either go along with the majority, depsite your differences, or go it alone.

The problem is that the college age kids have been educated to “celebrate” the sodomite lifestyle in government schools. We have collaborated in this deformation of their worldview by sending our children to be “educated” by the government school establishment. Ron Paul has nothing to do with this. Paul advocates reversal of Lawrence...which other “respectable” candidate has said this? We are to blame, along with the generations before who bought into the government education lie.

Gay marriage is the dumbest term that I've ever heard. Two of the same kind cannot "mate". They can only simulate the sexual act. Gender confusion is an mental illness. It should not be affirmed as normal.

And you are still a liberal troll.

In fact, even apparently “normal” sodomites engage in very disturbing behavior when they are “off stage”.

You may be thinking of a different Bruce Carroll:

Bruce Carroll
Bruce M. Carroll Jr. has been involved in Republican politics since he was 14-years-old, growing in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He credits his Mom for becoming involved in politics and government as she worked for US Congressman Robert S. Walker (ret.) for 20 years.

In addition to active involvement in numerous Pennsylvania Republican grassroots campaigns, Bruce was elected as the youngest borough councilman in the State of Pennsylvania at age 21 in 1992. Bruce worked for the Pennsylvania State Republican Party and PA Senate Senator Earl M. Baker in the early 1990s. Bruce also served as a board member for the Philadelphia chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans in the late 1990s.

During his college years at Syracuse University (1986-90), Bruce was Editorial Page Editor, then Editor In Chief of the award-winning daily newspaper, The Daily Orange.

In September 1994, Bruce launched the very successful gay conservative political blog – GayPatriot.org. GayPatriot was an original member of the PajamasMedia blogger network. GayPatriot receives approximately 100,000 visitors each month and has had over three million unique visitors since its launch. In 2009, Bruce became the Treasurer of the new gay conservative group,
GOProud.org.

Bruce’s professional work experience includes 15 years in healthcare policy and government relations in the biotechnology industry. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC and lives with his partner of 10 years, John, and their three dogs, Saxby, Shadow and Marley. Saxby was named after US Senator Saxby Chambliss after his surprising electoral win in 2002.
