This is great!! We could have special rights for anyone of Indian heritage (I think I have an aboriginal relative back somewhere in the woodpile). And who’s to say that I don’t. I mean, it’s not like they had birth certificates back then.

Special rights for Crackers in Alabama. There’s a few Irish in Nebraska where I come from (relatives also). Should they get special rights. I’ve read that we were “repressed” somewhere in the distant past. Does that mean I get special rights...or double rights because I’m part Indian also?

I used to think that the Great American Lottery was winning a lawsuit, but this would have to come in a very close second. I mean, since I would now have special status, I could secede from the state or perhaps start casinos on some of my land. With a small amount of Indian blood this makes me 100% Indian according to the race merchants. Don’t ask me to explain the math. I now have the keys to the kingdom. I can set my own rules and feed of the teat of society. ;-)

Well, you see where all of this could lead (and has). It’s not ha-ha funny, but ha-ha stupid to let this PC BS get as out of control as it has, but here we are.

Down the rabbit hole.

Sell off Government land in the west? The Feds would never do that! The Feds Hord everything for control Then again if they want Native American type status the feds will own the land and hold it "in trust" for them. It really is sad, so far the status has only served to isolate and help lead to the extinction of Native American civilizations. they should not want it if they didn't want that fate. The problem is a small minority of the natives want to reestablish the Hawaiian monarchy cause they think they have something to gain personally. Of course no state can have a monarchy as that would be nobility which is forbidden. The rest of the people pushing for this are just gullible faming liberals. But seriously a majority of the native population wont want it nor should they this is just an attempt by some in their ranks to grab power over them. In any-case this should be left to the state Of Hawaii to resolve itself. Congress should not be involved. Congress has nether the power not the local information and understanding to rationally do anything here.

Reparations for Hawaiians or blacks or any group is total crappola.
Just one more way to devide or buy votes.

My ancestors were lured to the US with promises of the streets being paved with gold. I want my share as they were duped.

I wonder if they felt their heads for bumps, or used any of the old racial skull-type fixtures.

How do you say “zieg heil” in ebonics?

Unless I am missing something -this legislation is just plain dumb as are those who voted to pass it.

“Just because you lived in the island for a while doesn’t qualify you as an authority on the subject.”

No, I’m not an authority by virtue of living in HI. But I had many conversations with folks of partial blood & THEY admitted that there were no pure blood Hawaiians left, aside from those on Niihau. As far as I’m concerned we should permit secession & let HI vote itself out of the union. If the senate approves this legislation I swear I will never, ever go there again. What a bunch of CR*P!

There's the roll call vote in the House if any one is interested. Pretty much party line but interesting nonetheless.

Anecdotal. Part to whole fallacy.

I don’t know who you talked to, but they need to get out more. A number of my relatives are full blooded Hawaiian, and they don’t live on Niihau.

We will never secede because there are too many Americans living on the islands that lose a lot of money. Furthermore, Hawaii is too important in terms of a strategic military location.

I’m part Hawaiian, and born and raised in the islands. I have NO desire to move back. The commies have destroy what was once a paradise.
