Federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 49 foreign nationals in central and western Wisconsin during the past week, targeting aliens with criminal records.
The arrests were announced jointly on Friday by ICE and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
Special agents from DOJ and officers from the U.S. Border Patrol assisted in the arrests.
The ICE operation began on Feb. 18 and ended on Feb. 24.
Arrests were made in Sauk, Wood, Portage, Clark, Trempealeau, Shawano, Waupaca, Marathon, Eau Claire, Monroe, Dunn and Langlade Counties.
Of the 49 arrested, 20 were arrested based on criminal histories, with convictions ranging from fraud to sexual assault to drug possession. Eighteen of the 20 were illegal aliens. The other two had green cards, but are eligible for deportation because of their criminal records.
Those arrested included 45 men and 4 women, from Mexico, China, Germany, South Africa, Macedonia, Romania and Yugoslavia.
"This operation undertaken through the heart of our state shows the depth and breadth of the threat to Wisconsin communities, big and small, urban and rural, posed by criminal illegal aliens," said Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

Wish they’d do that here in NJ. “Foreign nationals’’. I like how they put that, like these ‘’foreign nationals’’ just took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in America. It’s like the ‘’undocumented immigrant’’ thing. They would have bought along their documents but they left them home...’’uh, on the night table, yeah, that’s it, thats where I left my documents’’.
Spare me the terminology, I can’t keep up with it. Well, at least we can call ‘em ‘furriners’ again, right?

“foreign born”, “recently arrived immigrant” and “of no fixed address” are also used here in CA to obscure the obvious.
No I think all 49 are illegals. For 20 of them, “arrested on criminal histories” doesn’t trump “foreign national”, i.e., illegal, to me (I ain’t quite buying the “green card” for the other two), leaving the other 29 as straight up border jumpers.

Illegal alien sentenced to prison for raping a college student
On Feb. 21, 2009, about 2:30 a.m., the woman, along with her friends were walking home from a College Park bar, when she got into what she thought was a cab. However, it was not a cab, and the car was driven by Derik Valleda-Morales.
The victim, recently spoke to WUSA9 News on the condition of anonymity.
She said: “He told me he was a taxi driver and would take me home, as soon as he had passed my house, I knew that something was up, something wasn’t right.”
Her attacker began repeatedly punching her in the face, as he drove off the road into a wooded area. She was falling in and out of consciousness from the brutal beating. Once he parked the vehicle, he sexually assaulted her.
Describing the nightmare, she said: “Afterwards, I pleaded with him to let me go, I thought he was going to kill me.”
She eventually leaped from the moving car. A police officer spotted the partially clothed woman, and transported her to the hospital.
A few weeks after the crime, University of Maryland campus police spotted the illegal alien’s vehicle and took Valleda-Morales into custody.

According to news sources, Hazel Benson of Crown Heights, tried to sell her dead 8-year-old son’s identity to an illegal alien from Pakistan. ...
She claims that money never changed hands, yet the illegal Pakistani told authorities that he paid her $10,000 to get documents because he knew he couldn’t get an American ID.
The Pakistani native who is facing deportation, is a deli worker in Staten Island. Benson was arrested Jan. 28 and charged with fraud, forgery and other counts.

Over the past few weeks, the attorney general’s strike force have been arresting those masterminding this document scam.
Not only are they accused of falsifying documents but creating Resident Alien identification cards and other fraudulent documents used by criminals to facilitate illegal acts.
To date, fifteen suspects have been arrested and investigators expect to make more arrests along the Wasatch Front.
Some of those arrested are wanted for some serious crimes in the U.S.
It’s a sore spot for those making the arrests.
“It’s very frustrating to think that we work the cases and we find good legitimate charges and they get sentenced and get deported and before you know it, it seems like they’re back,” said special agent Tina Minchey-Verkler.
But prosecutors said that because many have been deported before they’ll be charged in federal court under an aggravated re-entry law. That means if they are convicted they will be sent to prison to serve out their sentence and then deported.
