The Dems have way over 50%, unfortunately. She wants a landslide victory of over 60%, not a bare victory.

...good luck Nan & Dingy Harry. You’re going to try and ram this through, elevating the level of partisanship to new heights, and you’ll suffer the consequences. Not only will Republicans offer amendments until the cows come home - amendments that must be voted on, but if you succeed, you’ll get your asses handed to you in November, watch your president get the boot in 2012, and finally watch the SCOTUS invalidate this legislation. All for not.

Others, like Representative Jason Altmire, a Pennsylvania Democrat who also voted against the House bill, seem to wonder aloud why Mr. Obama is bothering. With so many Democrats feeling nervous about their past votes in , LAST AND ALWAYSfavor of the health bill, Mr. Altmire said, he can imagine vote-switching in only one direction: from yes to no.

They STILL don’t know what my 6 year old grandson knows, IT’S ALL ABOUT HIM, FIRST,LAST AND ALWAYS - HIM, HIM AND HIM.

I assume what is going on right now is a poll of the House NO votes and the arm-twisted YES votes (from the voting for the original House Bill) to see what changes they will require to the already passed Senate Bill, via the reconciliation scheme, to make it acceptable to them.

Zeroing out abortion funding in strong language is going to be on that list for a lot of the House Dems. Will the Senate accept that change? I doubt it. Can you implement that change via the reconciliation process? I doubt it.

And are there other changes that the House wants that the Senate doesn't and might not be implementable in any case? You betcha.

And note the comment in the article: a lot of the YES vote Dems would like a second chance to vote NO and take that home to their constituents. Well Nancy is not going to be that kind. A vote that failed would be a slap in the face of Obama. Nice little Nancy would never do that.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Our rep here originally voted for but did announce that he would vote against when it came back around. He’s worried about his seat. I do not trust him but I hope my repeated contact and everyone else’s since he was on Morris’s list will keep him in the NO column.

“Asked at her weekly press conference today if the Senate can use the reconciliation process to fix the bill to the House’s liking, she said, “What you call a complicated process is called a simple majority.” She firmly rejected the GOP call to “start over, itsy-bitsy spider, little teeny tiny… you can’t do it. Doing this incrementally just doesn’t work.”
