Vermont: Update on Bill That Could Outlaw All Ammunition
nraila.org ^ | 2/27/2010 | Staff

The House Fish, Wildlife & Water Resources Committee is currently considering H. 484, which could potentially ban the sale and use of virtually all ammunition in Vermont.

The bill would require the Secretary of Natural Resources to set up a program to identify and ban the distribution of certain toxic chemicals. Even the Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation indicated recently in testimony before the committee that the enactment of this legislation could outlaw the ammunition you use for hunting, plinking, or self-defense. In addition to the bill’s potential to ban ammunition, the sweeping nature of H. 484 could easily implicate any number of products used by gun owners and sportsmen, such as cleaning solvents and materials.

Due to an outpouring of opposition, new language is being circulated that could eliminate the concerns of gun owners and sportsmen. NRA-ILA is currently evaluating the language and will let you know if the new version of the bill will affect gun owners.

Please continue checking your email and www.NRAILA.org for updates on this matter.

Vermont goes from having the best 2nd Amendment position to dead last with a single bill. Fight it. The upcoming Supreme Court case may result in incorporation of the 2nd. That will surely have an impact as this bill is a direct infringement.

I don't know, maybe replacing all elected officials and then the bureaucrats that serve them might be a good start in eliminating the concerns of the electorate after the next election.

Maybe they’ll require all used ammo to be recycled

They called Americans paranoid for clearing the shelves of ammo for the past 14 months.

Americans are not as dumb as they think we are.

Elections have consequences.....

....I think that in my entire life, I have witnessed only two or three elections in which more than 50% of the eligible voters participated. Primaries, where IMO, the important elections should take place, are worse....5%, 10% voter turnout is the normal condition.

No fricken wonder we are in the mess that we find ourselves. I hear people all the time whining about how sorry politicians are, and when I ask them if they voted, they most often say no.

My attitude about this is that you ain't got no bitch if you don't vote.

,,, I hear people all the time whining about how sorry politicians are, and when I ask them if they voted, they most often say no.

Ain't that the truth! While frequenting a local gun shop I heard a bunch of "good ol' boys" bitching about the government's restrictions on guns and ammo. Later, I spoke to the proprietor, who told me that he hears them all the time and that not a one is registered to vote. Amazing.

So much for moving to Vermont. I probably can’t afford Maine’s taxes...what about New Hampshire? Is N.H. sane?

Marginally, but we’ve got the Massholes moving into the southern portions, and exercising their usual manners to make our environment more like “their” home.

I think that they’ll manage to do so...

We’ve been in our home 20 years or so, but it’s getting
to be time for us to move on, though we’d prefer to stay.

Stupid law intended to disarm gun owners. Lead in soil has been studied extensively and it has been scientifically proven that lead leaches about 3 inches from a bullet AND NO FURTHER. Lead oxide is NOT water soluble.

There are already lead free bullets in any caliber you’d like.

They cost more, of course...

If this law passes in Vermont, does anyone doubt there will be smuggling from other states? ANd if it passes nationally, do we really expect the border to keep out “illegal” bullets when it cannot stop illegal aliens?

Last I checked, extremely sane for New England.

Very good gun laws and no income taxes.

Why would anyone want to live in Vermont instead of New Hampshire, I don't know.
