Disappointing Leon ("transformation has occurred" for a "lifelong" Jewish Democrat)
American Thinker ^ | February 28, 2010 | Candice Paul

I am going to disappoint Leon Wieseltier. The famous liberal wrote this week, "A day does not go by when I do not do my humble part to prevent such a transformation [of American Jewry from liberals to conservatives] from coming to pass."

Well, Leon, you let one get by.

My transformation has occurred. It began with 9/11 and progressed along bumpily until the Obama, Pelosi, Reid express train came roaring down the track . . .

For years I had been looking around and asking, "What the heck has happened to the Democratic Party that I grew up in?" My Democratic Party loved America, believed in the Constitution, free market values, and independent thought and actions. When did it turn into the Party of "group think" and intolerance, of programmed talking points and mean spirited, vitriolic spokespersons such as Wanda Sykes and Janeane Garofalo? . . .

Now, all of this transformation has not followed a smooth and flowing path . . . How could I, a child of the sixties, a lifelong Democrat and a Jew be listening to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck?! I guess that part of the answer to that question could come from the fact that the current Democratic President of the United States came to his epiphany listening to Reverend Wright . . .

No the Democratic Party has actually been rotten for the last 40 years at least. My mother made the switch over from Democratic to Republican in 1968 when she couldn't vote for Humphrey. She said at the time that the Democratic Party had changed for her.

Accurate ,, but for most of our lifetimes at least the rats had some respect and love for America , our founding principles and the Constitution ,, JFK would be a “hard right republican” today, Carter was stupid but not hostile to freedom and Clinton pulled back from socialism early in his first term. I for one are continually perplexed by the “jewish vote” ,, maybe Husseins attempt to destroy Israel will bring some over to our thinking..

Cat Fight!

Leon Wieseltier Calls Andrew Sullivan an Anti-Semite, Again and Again, Again

The New Republic writer, in a 4,200-word screed against his former friend and TNR boss, calls Sullivan a "dishonest" Jew-baiter with a "cheap" tone who has been "deranged" by neocons, whose thinking is "repugnant" and who is either "a bigot" or "just moronically insensitive." (Either way, his mind is apparently "bankrupt.") Sullivan, who is busy composing a response, notes: . . . continued here

The liberal cat fight is a few weeks old. Wieseltier started it with this article on Feb 8th:

Something Much Darker:Andrew Sullivan has a serious problem

But there are updates at google news

Another year of Obama and liberals will be putting each other in re-education camps.

No, they will wake up when they smell the stench, of burning flesh, coming from the ovens. By then it may be too late.

"...current Democratic President of the United States came to his epiphany listening to Reverend Wright . . ."

If Juan McAmnesty discussed this relationship at every campaigns top or the lapdog media had reported MAO-bama's marxist/racist inspiration of 20+ years, the election would have been different.

But the marxist media and Juan were working for the rats.

"A day does not go by when I do not do my humble part to prevent such a transformation [of American Jewry from liberals to conservatives] from coming to pass."

Jews and Evangelicals enjoy a wonderful alliance, one rooted in God, and His plans. What I have found over the years is that for many Jews, this is the equation they cemented have in their minds:

REPUBLICANS = EVANGELICALS + ANTI-SEMITES

Contrary to the writings of some some reporters and some Jews, Evangelical Christians do not solely support Israel because they are trying to hasten the Apocalypse, or hasten Christ's return. They believe that the prophesies in Isaiah, Daniel, and the Book of Revelation will happen, but there isn't anything they can do about it.

Still, the bond is strong between Jews and Christians in Israel (especially when weighed against the evil of Islam).

Christians who love God love the Jewish people people because God loves them. They are the "apple of His eye (Psalm 17)." To love the Jewish people and Israel is a direct manifestation of God's grace.

In political terms, what has happened is that many secular Jews (and nonsecular ones) have been taught to believe that Republicans are more than their "political" enemies, but theological, historical, and spiritual ones as well.

The conflict of the unbelieving Jews with that of Christ as Messiah is addressed in Romans 11.

It is historically correct and accurate that people, who either were Christians or said they were, brutalized the Jewish people. This is a huge factor to many Jews, who equate Christianity as a historic enemy. It is also true that many Jews equally hate (or display hatred of) Christianity.

This kind of manifestation of hatred is very small, however, and should not be compared to tragedies like the persecution of Jews throughout history, or the holocaust itself. Such comparisons are themselves vile, and trivialize the suffering of the Jewish people.

A very interesting, and tragic, topic is why so many Jews throughout history (and even today) were and are prominent Communists.

Related thread from today:

Islamic preacher who called Jews ‘filth’ to speak at London university

I believe the hatred of the Jewish people is primarily Satanic in nature. Lucifer believe he may be able to thwart God's plans by destroying Israel and the Jews.

Satan is wrong, but he won't give up trying. To view the hatred of the Jews in the world (as an outside observer) strikes one with incredible irrationality. You would have to ask "Why so much hatred from a people who have given the world so many gifts in science, medicine, and the arts?" All they seem to be asking for is a measly little strip on land in the Middle East?

That is because Satan hates them with a passion we cannot even imagine. Those whose minds are weak and have no interest in God (the real one) are easily consumed with evil hatred motivated by evil towards destroying the Jews.

Personally, I think that our turn hard left started with Woodrow Wilson. He was closely aligned with the American version of the Fabian Socialist society (co-founded by George Bernard Shaw in England) and appointed many of its members to prominent positions in his administration.

She makes an excellent point about Obama:

Ya know how the Dems dismiss anyone who “listens to Rush Limbaugh”? Or Glenn Beck. Or FOX.

Someone should respond:
“Obama listened to Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers for 20 years. Do you think they informed HIS political thinking?!”.

There are quite a few Jewish apostles of capitalism. You can post their photos. Von Mises, Milton Friedman, Ayn Rand, Friedrich von Hayek (some Jewish ancestry) .....

Many in the Austrian School seems to be Jewish or part Jewish...

“I for one are continually perplexed by the “jewish vote” ,, maybe Husseins attempt to destroy Israel will bring some over to our thinking..”

Nope. Most of those people who call themselves “Jews” but have the values of liberals will only see the light when it’s too late.

To understand them, you have to look back to pre-Nazi Germany. There, for a couple of hundred years, you had “Germans of the Mosaic persuasion”, which is how the liberal Jews referred to themselves. When Hitler came along, they all believed he was referring to the “other” Jews (the religious ones with their “strange” behavior. Perhaps they woke up when they were walking into the camps, but I wouldn’t even bet on that.

Thanks for posting.

I agree with the author. The Democrats today are nothing like those of past generations.

Just watch this November...when the “Reagan Democrats” make their voices heard. They’ve had enough of the current crowd.

The endless promotion of historical grievences helps keep liberals from straying. We see it employed against other groups which vote liberal too. The constant reiteration of what someone did 100 years ago or 500 years ago is used to radicalize people today against those who don’t have the slightest intention of harming anyone.

How any Jew could ever be a Democrat is beyond my ability to grasp.

All Jews need to go back and look at WWII to see what happens to liberals, and take it as a warning.
