I thought the prevailing wisdom has been that this piece of crap legislation would not survive the up or down vote that is necessary for it to move forward in the house?

Didn’t they only pass it by just 4 votes?

Repeal as a viable option at a later date

Of course the d-rats will hold us to 60 votes to change the bill or repeal it, and there's some language in there that parts of the bill cannot be repealed.

We'll need a fast track to the Supreme Court before 0 is able to make any new appointments.

Hey Jimie Hoft:

Barack Obama will announce tomorrow that democrats will use the nuclear option reconciliation to takeover the health care industry.

The "nuclear option" and "reconciliation" ARE NOT the same thing.

Follow those links and learn some history. You are an embarrassment to the blogging community.

Glad to see you understand the problem so well.

Doctors and clinics are so poorly reimbursed by the US Govt for Medicare that they end up coding higher for privately insured patients.

Once a doctor has a medicare patient in their panel, and that could be from a longtime patent turning 65, that doctor is pretty much forced to see that patient. They are not allowed by law to refuse to see their Medicare patients. When their patient panel gets too packed with elderly Medicare patients, they lose money, go out of business or shut down and start over with a new patient panel but refusing new Medicare patients.

As a doctor, you can refuse to see new Medicare patients, but must see those already in your practice. But if you are a doctor that repeatedly sees the same patients, then there’s nothing to be done if a longtime patient has their 65th birthday and comes in to see you. You are going to eat the cost and think of ways to shift it to those with private insurance.

So yes, premiums go up because of government dictating care for the elderly and paying whatever they feel like paying on a month to month basis. And that more often than not means the doctor is working for about $9 per hour or losing money.

So yes, premiums go up because of government dictating care for the elderly and paying whatever they feel like paying on a month to month basis...it's not just dictating care for the elderly - I had the misfortune of watching part of a hearing involving the grilling of a couple of health insurance executives by some scum congressmen last week on C-Span - part of their testimony related to why their rates had increased "so much" in various states - at one point the CEO said that in Maine their company was the only one left (except for one very small local company) - there had been a number of others, but they all fled the state after the legislature there mandated that all people wishing coverage, no matter what their health status, had to be offered a policy, driving the cost of coverage skyhigh - government intervention at all levels has so distorted who pays what for how much coverage that the system is completely unbalanced - if they'd get their hands off for awhile it might work its way back to some sort of effectiveness eventually, but it doesn't look like that's about to happen.....
