Specter Tells Business He’ll Back Pro-Union Card Check
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 3/3/2010 | Sean Higgins

Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., will vote for cloture on card check if the pro-union legislation comes up for a vote, he told businessmen Tuesday.

Specter’s vote alone is not likely to ensure passage of the bill, formally known as the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make union organizing radically easier. Democrats lack a 60-vote majority in the Senate, it has no Republican support and other Democrats are likely to oppose it. But Big Labor probably needed Specter to even have a chance.

Specter may be feeling political heat.

I’m certain decorum was the only thing keeping those businessmen from throwing things at Specter.

Since his party switch, he’s been a solid vote for every leftist initiative imaginable. He only took marginally non-leftist stances in the past because he knew what was expected of him as a Republican. What a completely unprincipled piece of trash.

No, not quite. The sanitation department frowns on it when you put shit in your trash bins.

Specter to buck party, vote for stimulus ($6.5b pay to play?)
Scraton Times ^ | February 09, 2009 | BORYS KRAWCZENIUK

EXCERPT

Mr. Specter said he would have supported the (stimulus) package even if Democrats had not added $6.5 billion in additional money for the National Institutes of Health to the final version of the bill.

Mr. Specter had sought the money for years, and had mentioned that he wanted the money in the bill when he met with President Barack Obama last week.

But Specter still left some wiggle room, hinting his vote was more about positioning himself in the Democratic primary than getting a law passed.

A truly great statesman and man of honor he is.

Does 60 votes matter any more? We now have another US House with a few extra powers. Why, with majority rule, we can have a permanent dictatorship.

Being a Senator is the only thing keeping this guy alive. I would bet that if he fails to win reelection he will be dead in two years.
