Still searching for a permanent host for “This Week,” ABC News is in talks with Christiane Amanpour, the CNN foreign correspondent known more for globe-trotting reporting than talking politics within the Beltway.
Amanpour, through a CNN spokesperson, declined to comment, but sources with knowledge of the hiring process say she’s now in the mix of internal and external candidates ABC is considering to replace George Stephanopoulos, who left for “Good Morning America” in December.
Since Stephanopoulos’s departure, the network has kept the Sunday show seat warm with a steady stream of ABC correspondents: Jake Tapper, Terry Moran, Barbara Walters, Jonathan Karl and Elizabeth Vargas.
This Sunday, Matthew Dowd — chief strategist behind the Bush-Cheney reelection campaign and currently a political strategist for the network — will get his turn asking questions of guests Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). He’ll also lead the roundtable with regulars like George Will and Donna Brazile.

Is she a Muslim?
I don't know, for sure. I do know that she was born to at least one Iranian parent, and perhaps she was born in Iran itself. Like most journalists, she's probably either an atheist or an Obamaist.
I watched both times Tapper hosted. I thought he was very good. If it's not Tapper, I don't care, because I won't watching, either.
If the station that had ‘perky katie’ dumped her for amanpour it would be a much better show
I dont care much for her injecting her politics into everything but she is at least a real newswoman

Why did he leave? I have not missed him, or even known that he was gone.
Im guessing that if shes a journalist shes likely an athiest or at the very least an agnostic.

It gave birth; Impregnated by former Clinton Asst. Sec of State and spokesman, Jamie (sp?) Rubin. Although, knowing Rubin, it's not at all impossible that he carried the child.
He left earlier this year when Diane Sawyer went to World News, and he went to GMA.
Steponallofus left the show? For what? Diane Sawyer’s gig?
They wanted Yasser Arafat, but he was too dead. So they they’re going with Amanpour, since her views and allegiances are indistinguishable from his.
