Yeah, you're prolly right. One of my 'bad' habits.
At times I make too many assumptions.(1)

(1) However I'm coppin' a plea. It ain't my fault.
In my 40 years in Commercial Construction I've been burned a lot. So now I assume a lot of things and many of the various scenarios of almost any occurrence. In short - Trust No One, Suspect Everyone ;-)

My logic was to shoot the SOBs in the store not go cagney and lacey on them on the public streets.

Again, you ASSume the chase was reckless.

There is no information to support your claim.

In the meantime, I'll side with the police who questioned and released him and not with you making wild accusations.

Nobody is immune from such things. It is part of our innate desire for self-preservation that we have to fight against sometimes.

Thank you for being reasonable. It is rare.

You have a right to defend yourself. You do not have a right to endanger anyone elses life.

I agree. However, neither you nor I know that is the case here.

“Again, you ASSume the chase was reckless.”

You are detestable with your cheap and classless innuendos.

There’s no information to assume it wasn’t a reckless chase. Its my guess this guy goes to jail.

Again, do you only support the police sometime or when its convenient to support your weak and baseless argument?

Chasing someone thru the streets and engaging in a gun battle over a few bucks is reckless. The business owner is extremely lucky someone else wasn’t hurt.

See my post 30. He was released because no crime.

Whether or not a situation like this is self defense should take into consideration the outcome. The dead man initiated the confrontation and is the only one who was hurt. I hope he isn’t charged.

Hey, you're very welcome.
And a reasonable discussion is always enjoyable.

Plus, FReepers are always 'reasonable' ;-)

“Whether or not a situation like this is self defense should take into consideration the outcome. “

Wow very liberal. So if the owner shot a baby by accident would it still be self defense? Or if he ran over a little girl on her bike? Or perhaps Grandma?

Self defense doesn’t depend on the outcome. It depends on the fact of a threat to someones life. Once the threat is removed it is no longer self defense.

IMO thats why we have cops, judges, DAs, and jails. If they don’t work then perhaps the energy should be put into fixing them. Either we are a nation which adheres to the rule of law or we are not.

If he had shot them while on his property I would fully support him. As it is I hope he goes in front of a jury.

For a person who is so big on the end of self defense for the store owner, you sure do set a different standard for youself. How so you justify this?

Oh you mean because I said I would plant someone who injured one of mine.

Theres a difference between the value of money and the value of a life. And I may be a hypocrit, I’m not the only one.

Hurt one of mine in a situation like this and you would pay the price for your poor choice.

So if someone one bruises or breaks bones on one of your family it is ok to kill. Get real and think about what you post.

*** See my post 30. He was released because no crime. ***

And IMO that's the odd thing here.

In almost any jurisdiction in the US what occurred would be 'a crime' of some type. I have a C&R License from the BATF and as such, I get the 'Big Book' (Finally issued on a CD) of the Firearms Laws and their legal use in the US and Territories. I think I'd be hard pressed to search the latest CD of Laws and find that no 'crime' whatsoever was committed by the Store Owner.

Granted this article is not the best written and pertinent information is lacking. But to me something doesn't seem right.

(I can't search now as I have to start working on a new construction project (CAD Drawings). Like first reviewing the Civil Engineer's Blueprints :-)

So you support the owner, who made the scum pay the price for injuring the owners employee.

If he did it it in the course of the robbery I would support him.

If he made a choice to go racing through the streets because his money was more important than anyone elses life then I would not.

I find it humorous that people supporting a vigilante are upset with the idea they might have to face the consequences of their choice.

In Florida you can use deadly force to defend yourself with no requirement to retreat.

Start chasing people down and you are in for some legal trouble. I doubt the laws in MS are much different.

Depends, if it was an accident then no. Go about thinking your money is more important than my child and then you are responsible for your choices.

Once again you support what you complain about, vigilante justice. You feel it is OK for you to get revenge. But not OK for the store owner to follow the perps and then respond to thier actions.
