and second to get an iron-clad commitment from Senate Democrats they will vote to sustain whatever deal she makes.

How would you do that? Short of getting a signed commitment from 50 senators and Joe biden, you have no idea how they will vote. And even a signed agreement cannot commit them to vote a certain way. I'm not even sure it is legal to trade a vote on legislation for something of value, in this case the vote on another piece of legislation.

The senate wouldn't accept Stupak as part of the bill, when they had 40 republicans ready to vote to add that amendment so they only needed 20 democrats. How could they ever vote for Stupak when they need 50 democrats?

And let's say they actually do it? What's to stop them from just having another reconciliation vote later that removes it?

One Reid promises the House that he will renege on deals he made with senators in order to get them to vote for a bill, nobody should ever trust him again, because he could just turn around and screw them next.

The big dogs have lowered themselves (both R and D) to playing political games.

I mentioned on another thread, a different topic, that zero came on to America in styrofoam columns and a mesmerised crowd.

It was a friggin' rock concert .. "Hey kids ... see Obama?"

My life is a friggin' GAME to them !

A friggin' SHOW !

Reid already reneged on that deal with Bunning.

Stupak and the other Democrats who are supposedly opposed to the support for abortion in 0bamacare are still socialists who already voted for this abomination the first time through. I wish people here would stop holding them up as some sort of tragic heroes.

“Rep. Bart Stupak and the 12 cannot be so naive as to fall for this trick.”

Oh, YES THEY CAN!

Prior to 2000 it was clear that the national press would accept any Democrat statement as true with false statements left unchallenged. Al Gore tried to game the 2000 election and the national press not only accepted that awful tactic; the press demanded that it continue. Democrats discovered the new gaming tactics could be employed with impunity, Democrat Governor of Washington 2004, Al Franken 2008. Gaming won Obama the Democrat nomination and maybe the Presidential election. So do not be shocked if Obama Health Care is gamed into existence.

We saw again very recently in the Jim Bunning mess, where THE ENTIRE NATIONAL MEDIA, with a straight face, told us that Bunning was "obstructing" the unemployment extension-- while at any time Harry Reid could have called for a roll call vote and passed the extension instantly.

Here’s the answer right here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/05/AR2010030503248.html?nav=rss_opinion/columns

Kent Conrad says plainly, all it will take now is the House to pass the bill. Rush talked about it for the last 2 days.

It’s ever been thus. The tricks didn’t used to be reported nearly as much.

Pelosi is pure evil. We must recognize that evil always loses in the end.

Pelosi has done NOTHING for this Country nor has anyone in the DimocRat party since 1976.

Is it totally unheard of for the President of the Senate to prevail / over ride against the decision of the Senate Parlimentarian? (One post said that Nelson R. did so in 1975) I dont have much background on this subject but I’d guess that Biden would pull rank on any point of order with regard to this matter! Any background appreciated!

Everybody needs to understand that Bart Stupak is, has been, and always will be a democrat. That means, even more so than many Republicans, he has a price.

Rush pointed out yesterday that Bart Stupak has voted consistently to fund Planned Parenthood with Federal money. If he were so damned concerned about abortion he'd have consistently voted against that crap.

He also votes in favor of every other redistributionist crappola that gets floated and makes no bones about it. His district in Michigan is safe because most of the U.P. is on welfare and/or has some connection to unions, and he's got North Ann Arbor aka Traverse City in his district.

Bart Stupak has achieved one thing for sure out of this whole mess, he's gotten national press coverage and his name up in lights. There are enough dumb bells in his district in Michigan that will vote for him using the rationalization that, "well, at least he tries." Those people call themselves Republicans. A day might come when he can translate that mind numbed support into a statewide office such as governor or US Senate. Many voters, unfortunately, have short or no memories. They step into the booth on election day and vote name recognition. This is a very dangerous man.

It won't matter. She will promise and not keep it. They will vote for Healthcare deform. Than they will wail because they were deceived. Healthcare deform becomes law. End of story.

And I got a lot of crap from Catholics here to say we got played when it just passed the house.. Yes we did, If all Republicans voted against Stupak instead of for it, This beast would have died last fall. Mark my words, if this passes we are going to look back and realize this is the guy that played us, but what I want to know is for what price.

The problem is, if the House passes this version of the bill, it doesn’t even go back to the Senate. It will go on to Obama for his signature.

Has anyone satisfactorily answered the question of how the House passes the Senate bill with the requirement that appropriations bills originate in the House? Unless there isn’t actually any money spent in the bill (it’s all savings, right? /s) and that makes it all right?
