Tell Us the Truth
American Thinker via CDS ^ | 3/8/2010 | Chuck Rogér

In America, we are beginning to sense a nasty reality that President Obama must acknowledge: Our worst economic problems lie ahead, and fixing those problems is going to hurt — plenty. Our federal government now runs a con game that promises people a level of financial security impossible to deliver. Honoring Medicare and Social Security obligations alone will require confiscatory taxation capable of killing off prosperity. And so it is time to cure our nanny-state insanity and get back to basics.

To deal with our American disaster, experts call for our economy to be “transformed.” President Obama wants a “fundamental” transformation. But what America really needs is a transformation that would undo a century of malignant progressivism that perverted the free-market capitalism on which our nation was founded. Returning to those free-market basics will not be painless.

This is so true, and it's why I nearly despair when I hear the Republicans say "Obama wants to cut your Medicare, but we'll preserve it!!"

You’re absolutely right in everything you say, but... it’ll never happen.

I think things are going to get real bad so much as to say the little people will rise up with pitchforks in hand.

I agree totally. The Affirmative Action POS is not capable of telling the truth. He is a pure liar. His life is a lie.

————————————Gee I thought it was obama saying that and that we will add 30 Million more people (illegal aliens) to the health system but it won’t cost a penny more, in fact it will cost less!!! And they wonder why there’s a ‘deficit of trust’ , yet we are supposed to ‘trust’ they will ‘fix’ the bills AFTER they are passed...hmmmmm

But yea, it’s the Republicans fault, right? Right?

Anyone 50 or under who thinks they will ever see a dime of SSI is living in a dream world.

SSI is a big zero in my retirement plans.

They should cut their losses. Just say “sorry, we were wrong — that was a tax not an enforced savings plan” and just stop it. End the program and end the deduction.

This whole thing that was set up by FDR has left the nation bankrupt. And we built a memorial to that POS.

In the end the idea of “retirement” is going to have to be ended. Socialist Stupidity will have to have the age of “retirement” raised to 81 years in order to remain solvent.

The government’s meddling will only deepen and prolong our troubles. The only remedy is to get the government and its oppressive taxation out of the way of business, and that may never happen.

Just once I would love to see a politician tell the truth. That America is broke, that Congress over the past 70 years spend the money that was supposed to be for social security and Medicare and that starting next month there will be no more welfare or foodstamps. I know it is a dream but it does have to happen son before everything crashes down.

You know what. The worst IS ahead and it IS going to hurt.

But I don’t blame Obama for not telling the truth.

If you said anything remotely negative about the economy being in trouble the last several years here on FR you were run out.

If you were on the mark like Peter Schiff you were mocked and disrespected.

And so it continues.

And this magazine was one of the worst offenders in cheerleading an unsustainable bubble economy.

Why should they tell the truth?

Hell, you couldn’t even mention anything even remotely negative about the economy on FR a year and a half ago.
