WASHINGTON (AP) ― Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's wife and daughter are recovering in a Washington-area hospital after a car accident.

A spokesman for Reid says the majority leader's wife, Landra, and their daughter, Lana, were injured Thursday when their vehicle was rear-ended. Reid left the Senate for the hospital. The spokesman says details are unclear.

"The 70-year-old senator visited them shortly after hearing of the accident at 2:15 p.m., then returned to his office in the Capitol to work on health-care legislation, said Reid spokesman Jim Manley.

Asked whether Reid had considered skipping the meeting and staying at the hospital, Manley responded, "Let's be clear, for those who may know, he loves that woman more than life itself. But she's in good hands at the hospital and [he] felt the need to come back and work on this piece of legislation ...."

What partner does that??? ..goes right back to work???? I don't care if the Spokesman says for Reid.."she's in good hands"!! It's just the worry factor, that keeps a loved one close in such a time. Who could concentrate when a daughter and spouse have been in an accident to any degree of injury.

I don't say this for just Reid, would say the same for any member of any party.

Just my opinion, but then I am not a "politician", a different breed of animal, I guess.

I hope for a good recovery of the Reids.

I do too. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I almost feel as though posters here care more about them than their own family. I’m sad they got hurt, and even sadder they were abandoned at the hospital for a meeting on healthcare. Shameless and sad.

I’m interested in the semi. Was it one of those allowed into the US from Mexico? Or is the driver here legally?

Just wonderin’...

He should never have left them. He is a POS and it is too late.

Stealing our healthcare is more important than his wife and daughter. This SOS should be dropped off of free taxpayer funded healthcare.

Reid was pulled out of a meeting and was rushed to the hospital to visit them but was expected to return to the Senate this evening, aides said.”

What a skunk!

Now I feel doubly sorry for his wife and daughter.

Exit 166 at the Fairfax County Parkway ~ at's where it happened. Kind real close to the world's largest Wood Roofed building.

It has a Class 4 facility inside one of the main units ~ that's where they keep the Anthrax Contaminated mail boxes and postal equipment!

Jon Mohamed and his young shooter visited a small shopping center just on the West side of the highway at that location. They apparently intended to get out there and shoot across I-95 at a nearby Michaels. Their plans were defeated by reason of a massive ramp wall between them and their target.

If the cops had told folks what to look for, these guys would have been identified in that area and reported. Several people who are now dead wouldn't have been shot.

Suffice to say this is a major convergence point for the FORCES OF HISTORY.

The AlQaida ground support "jump out team" were located in rented townhouses less than 159 meters from the site of the Reid Wreck!

Then, the two main guys in Chinagate, part of the fundraising done for Bill Clinton, lived in that community ~ on that same street ~ Gilbert Colon and Raefi Wiriandonata. They're still wanted by the FBI.

Of note, the Pakistanis caught Mir Aimal Kasi who'd killed a bunch of people at the CIA headquarters one morning in 1993.

He used to work on brakes for some of the Afghanis who lived at that time in that part of town.

He was executed. An AlQaida field operative was shot down by federal officers on a basketball court in that same little development.

Just all kinds of stuff goes on in that small space ~

Ya think? I can’t imagine being slammed by a semi into another car. I’d be surprised if the injuries weren’t serious.

I know I shouldn’t be, given their nature, but I’m still shocked that someone could head back to work with a loved one in that condition.

I 100% agree with you! I don’t care if hubby was completely out of it I’d be there waiting and watching. Infact I’d probably only leave long enough to go home shower change clothes and come back if he were in as bad of shape as his wife is. No excuse for a spouse not to be there. I hope the Nevada voters are watching this paly out because I would have a big problem with a man who would desert his wife in her greatest hour of need.

Bill Clinton's secretary found that her brother had been run down by a semi on his way to get aid for his disabled car. He got up, though, and was hit by a semi coming from the opposite direction.

She was scheduled to testify about Bill some time later that week.

So, yeah, this does look like another bit of the "Clinton Body Count".

I'd be interrogating that truck driver on a rack in a garage, and hooking up my battery charger as I talked casually to him. Now that won't happen because there are people in American who don't want him to tell the truth!

Fairfax Hospital is one of the top 50 in America. You actually can’t end up in a better place.
