A little inside scoop about my Great Commonwealth:

The GOP in VA here has been very actively listening to voters, seeking over-the-phone town halls, conventional town halls, etc. They are keeping in touch with us.

Well........yippeee! And, I hope this is the beginning of a trend!

Put your seat belt on you haven't seen nothing yet! Wait until states like Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Montana weigh in. The people in those states DEFINED what stubborn means.

There are reportedly 37 states working on the same thing.

Isn;t VA overrun with DemCritter’s?

In large part, they populate the north. We have a lot of blacks here in Hampton Roads, but overall, many Virginians have awakened to the mistake made on 4 Nov 2008.

“Interestingly nothing being done in these states”

CA
Oregon
Nevada
TX
ILL
Maine
NY
VT
MASS
CT

Texas surprises me on this; maybe they have something working. The rest in the list (save NV and to some degress, surprisingly, MA) will slavishly support their One.

FANTASTIC! About time an individual state said that they will NOT consistently *take orders* from D.C.

We are the United StateS of America...not the United State.

Of course it's wouldn't carry legal weight. The framers included a "supremacy clause" to insure national domination of the states.

It does serve as a statement of sentiment, though, which is politically useful. And since 34 states have passed similar bills, it seems they have the numbers to propose a federal amendment. If they want to pass something with teeth, that's the route they need to take.

Yay for VA! Until November, I had given up hope that VA could ever return from the Dark Side. After November I only dared to be cautiously hopeful.

But now....just YAY! Though it's pouring rain it's a sunny day for Old Dominion!

Hmmmmm. Since PA is now thoroughly entrenched in the dark side, maybe it's time to move back to Virginia...

Understand that the Texas Legislature only meets once every two years for 140 days unless the Gov. calls a rare special session for a specific topic. The next legislative session will begin in Jan. 2011. That will be the earliest that anything can be done legislatively. Now there maybe some committees meeting for planning purposes to have things ready to go for the upcoming session.

If they didn't want to take orders from DC, they shouldn't have ratified the Constitution, with its supremacy clause, its unaccountable judiciary, its implied powers.

We are one state, with the old states being mere agencies or departments of that national state. "To the republic, for which it stands." Not to the republics. Or to the union. To the republic. Singular. That's the problem.

Dear Gov. McDonnell;

Please have a big, showy “signing ceremony” for this legislation.

Health care is not a *right*. No where in the Constitution does it say the Federal Gov’t can FORCE us to buy ANYTHING.

Individual states are finally getting it.

As I see it...”To the republic, for which it stands” means “for which it stands” UNDER THE CONSTITUTION.

Of course, the federal gov’t will tell me that they know what’s better for me. (sigh)

Great. I live in Virginia. Now how does this work? Does this mean my taxes won’t go up and my employer (which is in another state) can’t force me into the government system.

I am not sure how I see this working unless the Supremes rule obamacare unconstitutional.

Health care is not a *right*. No where in the Constitution does it say the Federal Gov’t can FORCE us to buy ANYTHING.

We have a right to purchase health care. You wouldn't allow the government to forbid you to by health care, would you? Hence, we have a right to purchase health care. We just don't have the right to make someone else pay for it.

As for the fedgov, they force us to buy social security, unemployment insurance, medicare and medicaid don't they?
