A grandfather wants to know why two burglars kicked in his door, holding knives. The 57-year-old man didn't question grabbing his gun and quickly firing at the masked men. He asked KSPR not to show his identity in case someone wants to retaliate.
In his house on East Calhoun, he says you won't find him without Roscoe, his .357 Magnum.
"'Roscoe' came to the rescue," the man said. Around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, he was babysitting his two-month-old grandson. He says he heard rustling at his back door.
"As I picked up my firearm, men in all black with ski masks and a knife kicked in the front, he said. I put a couple rounds in him."
The 57-year-old says another man with a mask came in next. "I shot at him too and he stumbled sideways out the front door screaming," he said.
He says the first burglar, who was hit twice in the chest, ran for the back door but it was locked. "I cleared the bedroom and realized he jumped out the top window," he said.
The man says during the fight a bullet hit the wall and another nailed the microwave. "I hope I didn't kill anyone but there is someone walking around with lead in them," the man said.
The Greene County prosecutor hasn't seen the report for this case but says homeowners have the right to protect themselves from home invasions. "You may not have time to give a warning, Prosecutor Darrell Moore said. You have the right to defend yourself unless its police serving a search warrant and they usually warn you."
Moore says there are many Castle Doctrine myths. "There is the old saying, 'Drag someone on your porch and the answer is no,' Moore said.

Three cheers for “Roscoe!”
Ho ho, if this were England, the Grandpa woulda been in Jail, and the Burglar pressing charges.
Bummer about the microwave — it was worth more than the puke with the bullets in his chest’s life.
Reminds me of that TV commercial that’s running all the time about some security system. Only there the housewife isn’t attacked.
Someone needs to do a parody of it, following the actions of this Grandfather.
We live in the country, it would take State Troopers at 30 minutes or more to get here.
Roscoe and Gramps...3 cheers.
Probably woke the baby up, bummer.
If “burglars” had been doing a drug bust at the wrong house grandpa would be dead.
If they don't warn you, then it's a home invasion.
Yes. When Brinks calls, the lady can tell him not to worry, it’s handled, but could they please send Serve Pro.
Do you need to get a background check for a shotgun? Yes, this is a very serious question as I am interested in getting a shotgun for my home.
Hit twice in the chest with a .357 and walking around?
LOL! (Dukes of Hazzard)
I lived in a rural area once-when you called 911, you often would get a recording-serioulsy. “Your call is important to us . . .”
Anyone stupid enough to be out there unarmed has to be a libtard. The meth cookers are not going to wait an hour & a half for the deputies to show up.
Sounds like he needs a larger caliber or a hotter load behind the bullet. It’s possible he hit a non-critical area of the perp’s body.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..
That is my thought too, my .45 auto would have knocked him down
I read of one case where a policewoman was called to the scene of a robbery. She was shot through the heart with a .357. She managed to dispatch her attacker. They got her to the hospital in time, and a year later she was back on duty. The .357 tends to overpenetrate. You want something that dumps its energy in the target without overpenetrating. I don't want to get into the int4erminable arguments about .45 vs. 9mm vs. .40, but bullet choice is as important as bullet placement.
Say hello to my little friend!
