GOP Leads Backlash against Obama; Democrats Uneasy
03/15/10, 10:36 PM
(IsraelNN.com) Republican Party leaders attacked the Obama administration Monday with unusually harsh language, charging it with an "irresponsible position against an ally. "In an effort to ingratiate our country with the Arab world, this administration has shown a troubling eagerness to undercut our allies and friends, said the GOPs only Jewish Republican Congressman, Eric Cantor of Virginia.
He went so far as to say that the dispute "jeopardizes America's national security."
Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the leading Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, charged that the Obama governments condemnations of "an indispensable ally and friend of the United States undermine both our allies and the peace process, while encouraging the enemies of America and Israel alike.
She noted that President Obama has taken "softer approaches" towards the Palestinian Authority, Syria and Iran.
Senator Sam Brownbacks office stated, It' is hard to see how spending a weekend condemning Israel for a zoning decision in its capital city amounts to a positive step towards peace."
Democrats also are uneasy over the crisis, which comes only eight months before Congressional elections. Polls have shown that President Obamas political stature is sinking.
She (Laura Rozenof of Politico.com) quoted a senior Democratic foreign policy leader as saying that the failure of top Obama officials and Mitchell to make contact with Congressman is the the same exact mistake of the first two Clinton years with majorities in both Houses. You'd think they would have learned the lesson of 'never take your allies for granted' at least after this year."
Veteran Middle East peace negotiator Aaron David Miller told Rozen, "The tree they're up on this one is very tall. Paradoxically, it may be up to Bibi [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] to help them climb down."

At least it is consistent with everything else Obama is doing.
He doesn’t care. He wants to be friends with the Arab nations and we really can’t be friends with Israel too.
That’s exactly what this is all about. I think, however, that there are even some Dems who are wondering about this. Maybe he’s overreached here (one hopes).
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Despite reports of O’s great intellect - Bibi clearly has the advantage in this area.
obummer= the Left-Leaning Tower of Appeasa
Obama is a anti-Semitic Muslim of the worst kind. I hope Bibi feeds him more rope and then hangs him with it (politically speaking, for those who scream racism at everything).
I liked this quote - Veteran Middle East peace negotiator Aaron David Miller told Rozen, “The tree they’re up on this one is very tall. Paradoxically, it may be up to Bibi [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] to help them climb down.”
Hopefully, Bibi leaves him up there on that tree or maybe offers to lend him a hand down in exchange for safe passage over Iraqi skies . . .
Why is Romney showing up in all these threads?
He’s not a Muslim, bu he is anti-Semitic. He’s a irrelgious socialist.
I can't understand this rumor that he's so intelligent. My dentist told me that the other day - that Obama was supposed to be sooo intelligent (he doesn't believe it either - I would never put my hard earned money in the hands of a lib). I wonder where this came from.
Economics 101 - if you want to spur the economy - cut taxes and government intervention in business. Everything he does is contrary to this. I just don't understand it.
Most of us know why. The Romney hate-spam is back after being temporarily interrupted by the freepathon.
I'm fed up with it infesting our FR....and I'm the farthest thing from a Romney supporter.
Leni/MinuteGal
Because evidently, in FR, he is the biggest threat to our existence - he 'might' run 2 1/2 years from now - and that's more dangerous that the raging fire that threatens to burn our country down if we don't put it out THIS WEEK - this is the crucial week when we may well lose our freedoms.
But hey - Romney might run in 1 1/2 yrs. (sarq)
What you said - all of it
correction - in 2 1/2 yrs - let’s not waste a second - (sarq)
The best that can be said is that he is a Keynesian in which case Econ 101 is irrelevant.
In a more likely case, he is simply not on out side.
And you know this, how?
Sounds like I’m not the only one who isn’t interested in Romney right at the moment...
