OCOEE, Fla. -- When two gunmen tried to break into an Ocoee house early Tuesday morning, the homeowner pulled out his gun and shot one of the men dead. Another robber ran off after the home invasion on Pomegranate Court.
WFTV gathered new information Tuesday afternoon about the shooter and the robber.

Shot at two bad guys, killed one and ran off the other one - at night in his driveway!
Learn and practice “point and shoot” so YOU don’t have to worry about the one that got away!
Misleading headline. The OK Corral was a “gunfight” . This wasn’t;)
One for two ain’t bad.
Twouldn’t get no justice in the courts, anyway.
From the article...Meanwhile, homeowner Dave Henry has not been charged in the shooting.
Are they trying to say that he should be????????
I am tearing up....I just love a happy ending...;-)
“Ocoee police said they found the robber, 37-year-old David Butler, face down on top of his gun in the driveway. David Butler later died at the hospital. Police said Butler has an extensive violent criminal history, including an active warrant for a previous home invasion robbery out of Lake County.”
Good thing that he ran up against the wrong man this time.
Beats any Chicago sports team in a given season...
As a side bar, if I saw someone with a gun holstered in public I would go stand by him or her! The odds would be in my favor!
I think this is a standard line they teach in journalism school anymore :-) In Florida, the last time I remember anyone being charged in similar circumstances was about 10 years ago when an old guy shot at two teenagers in his house. I'll have to see if I can find that.
Happy ending!
Another Obama voter down, apparently. Bet this was not the change he was hoping for.
He’s still probably open for a civil lawsuit by the criminal’s family, or some liberal legal defense group.
Although it's change that I can believe in!
Florida's latest changes to the Use of Force law (or Castle Doctrine) will not let this happen.
776.032 Immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force.
(1) A person who uses force as permitted in s. 776.012, s. 776.013, or s. 776.031 is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force, unless the person against whom force was used is a law enforcement officer, . . .
Yup.
The law in Alabama is the same. No civil suits.
in every county in the land, hundreds of active warrants go unanswered, and the Sheriff Departments do very little about it, and municipal PDs even less. Many are for violent crimes. Many of the wanted are well known, even by the police. Frankly, often these people are "too violent" for the cops, who let them slide if they are currently inactive.
This is a national disgrace.
Another happy ending bedtime story.
