Idaho's governor is the first state chief executive to sign a measure requiring his attorney general to sue the federal government if the U.S. Congress passes health care reform.
Legal experts say the measure, signed by Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter on Wednesday, will likely be struck down. But Idaho's new law reflects growing frustration with President Barack Obama's health-care proposal.
Legislation similar to Idaho's is pending in as many as 37 other states nationwide.
Democrats in the nation's capital are hoping to pass health care reform by this weekend.
The American Legislative Exchange Council created the model legislation for Idaho and other states. The Washington, D.C.-based, nonprofit says Idaho is the first to sign a version into law.
Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter on Wednesday became the first state chief executive to sign a measure requiring his attorney general to sue Congress if it passes health reforms that force residents to buy insurance.
Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states nationwide.
Constitutional law experts say the move is mostly symbolic because federal laws supersede those of the states. But the movement reflects a growing national frustration with President President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.(continued)

This usurpation of liberty cannot stand.
I was watching the news here in Minneapolis a few minutes ago. They said Minnesotas Constitution gives them the ability to refuse the obammycare deal.
When you think what this would cost the states I expect a lot of them will try something similar.
AF1 will be flying to Boise late tonight
If this bill passes, then some day, maybe, the courts will do something. But I wont hold my breath.
The problem here is much bigger than socialized medicine. A year ago congress was bailing out the banking industry to the tune of $1 trillion. Then it was bailing out the auto industry. This week its socialized medicine. Next week itll be cap and tax. This an addiction to power and spending fueled by ever increasing debt. The demand isnt going to abate until there is simply no more money to be spent.
Demand based solutions arent going to work. No junkie comes clean unless he/she has to. We need to start looking at supply side solutions. We need to cut the supply of money. The irony here is that conservatives are enabling the socialism.
Own savings bonds? T-bills? GNMAs? Are they the underlying investment in your money market account or 401(k)? If the answer is yes, then youre subsidizing this just as surely as if you had scratched a check.
But what about the national debt? The ability to fund all this is tied to the ability to borrow. What if conservatives simply pushed for a polcy of repudiating the national debt, or more specifically that portion entered into since January 2009?
Not if the powers are reseved to the states.
I’m really tired of these “Constitutional Law experts” making this claim. I want the “Constitutional Law experts” to show us where in the Constitution does it claim that health insurance is a guaranteed right?
LOL! RINO Gov. Charlie Crist in FL could not be reached at his tanning bed to comment if FL will do jack sh*t.
Agreed, healthcare is not a guaranteed, it is individual responsibility not the government to take care of yourself.
No, he was at the Green Iguana.
It’s working it’s way through the Tennessee legislature.
Docs won’t accept Medicare patients, now Walgreens won’t take Medicaid RX’s.

Remember they are all being offered BRIBES for their votes. Ask them how much their bribe price is.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obamas announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the fixer bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.
At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote yes for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senators office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.
When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senators office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senators answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!
We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!

“Legal experts say the measure, signed by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter on Wednesday, will likely be struck down.”
What did you do, CBS? Exhume William Kunstler??
37 states will opt out, leaving the dictator with an empty pot.
“No, he was at the Green Iguana.”
Charlie was there drinking a Pink Squirrel.

A “man’s” drink.
ABC Radio keeps squawking that this is ‘symbolic’ and that ‘federal law supersedes state law’.
37 .... just happens to be the number required to call a constitutional convention.
:)
State governors should unite to form a “class action” law suit against the fed.
43 is required to achieve 3/4 of the 57 States
So it begins........it may be a COLD CIVIL WAR, but it has been building up for years and now it’s coming to a head, there will be no return to any type of normalcy until it is resolved. Better to swallow the bitter pill now than to wait until it’s too late.
What “constitutional experts” are those?
The ones from moveon.org?
Meanwhile, it's not even a federal law, if there is no vote in the House, and Pelosi merely deems it to have been voted upon.
“Legislation similar to Idaho’s is pending in as many as 37 other states nationwide.”
What about the other 20 states?
Now that's an interesting "factoid" - thanks for cheering me up a bit!!
I've been an advocate of the Tea Party movement adopting such a platform.
On Notice: When we win, we will REPUDIATE ALL US DEBT incurred since Jan 2009.
The interest on the 10 yr bond would go to 10% overnight...and 12-20% on the 30yr. Even then there would be far to few takers.
Hey world! You're on notice. The PEOPLE of the United States of America WILL NOT HONOR the national debt. We can't, we won't afford it.
Only 34 are needed to call a Convention. Then three quarters or 38 are needed to ratify amendments.
Yup. I think you’re being a bit conservative on what the interest rate would go up to. James Carville commented famously on the bond markets; we should thank him for his observation :-)
This doesn’t end until the checkbook is ripped from their hands.
Last time I checked, we only had 50 states, not the 57 Pres Zero thought we had.
A Constitutional Convention must be called if Congress receives requests from the legislatures of 2/3rds of the States. That means just 34 States submitting a call for the SAME issue although there could be multiple issues as long as each issue has at least 34 calls.
So why wait until November when we take back Congress ? If there are 37 States willing to fight the use of force and penalties on people to buy health insurance, are there at least 34 State Legislatures willing to call for an Amendment to clarify that “the Federal government shall make no law requiring nor penalize any citizen with regard to purchase or failure to purchase any good or service” ?
People have all but forgotten that Article V of the Constitution allows the States to call for a Convention to Amend the Constitution at ANY time expressly so the people don’t have to suffer an oppressive government until the next election cycle. Congress can do it too, but it needs a 2/3rds majority in both Houses, which we may or may not have even after November.
Every time in the past when the calls for a Convention have come close to the 2/3rds magic number, Congress has run scared and proposed the sought after Amendment themselves to prevent the Convention from forming. Because they are *obligated* to call it if there are 2/3rds of the States requesting one, and Congress has no say at all about what the Convention can do.
We are overdue for a Convention. We can finally pass the Balanced Budget Amendment that has been lingering out there since 1983 as well. Possibly another Amendment limiting the TOTAL of all Federal taxes to 20% or less of GDP for the prior year. Possibly another stating that all taxes must be FLAT rated on ALL citizens with no deductions, exemptions, or credits allowed. And another to disallow unfunded mandates on the States — Congress can only pass laws that it can pay for without States having to share the costs. And a line item veto that will pass the SCOTUS by merely allowing the POTUS to refer individual items in a bill back for a 2/3rds reconfirmation vote in the Senate rather than an outright rejection of the line items.
It is true that it takes 3/4ths of the States to RATIFY Amendments, and that means 38, but it looks like we are almost there due to Zero’s overreach.
Civil War is the answer at this point but I’m afraid we wimp out as always and submit to Marxism
Citizens should unite to storm DC.
ALL IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE NEED TO BE FIRED ..We need to totally clean house.
“Civil War is the answer at this point but Im afraid we wimp out as always and submit to Marxism”
The only prayers that a civil war would answer are the prayers of underemployed morticians. Sorry, I’m not going there. I just don’t like the idea of lots and lots of dead Americans. And it’s completely unnecessary in any case.
The phrase "Constitutional Law" is code for "pretending the Constitution means something other than what it says". Obama was a "Constitutional Law" instructor, in precisely that sense.
And a constitutional amendment after that. Leave no stone unturned in ridding ourselves of this mess!!
