It’s a bit maudlin - but when we learn of losing another memorable icon from childhood - I turn here for comfort:

He gave us "boomer" kids many hours of great adventure.

Yeah ... had a Davey Crockett jacket as a kid. Didn't have the coonskin hat though (although they were popular) because I didn't want to cover my curly Brylcream enhanced locks. Spent hours getting it just right. Today it's not an issue ... I don't have any ... Brylcream or hair. ;)

First Peter Graves and now Fess Parker. Sadly these things tend to come in 3’s. All those who made any TV worth watching are slowly departing our dimension.

You’re not thinking of Daniel Boone, are you?

My favorite review of the movie from somewhere online was;

“If you see only one movie in your life about a killer bulldozer, make it Killdozer.”

Yes it is sad. Seems like all our old heros are passing on. They were very instrumental in my life also.

I’m thinking of Daniel Boone now. I am certain I won’t get that song out of my head for the rest of the day.

“Daniel Boone was a Man....was a big.....man”

I buy his wine fairly often - guess I’ll buy some more to celebrate his life.

TV Land runs them, I believe on Saturday mornings.

I loved the old Disney Davy Crockett series when I was a kid. Fess Parker was THE man! I also liked Buddy Ebsen as his sidekick, George Russell.

OH I am sad. I got a Daniel Boone coonskip cap and rifle for Easter when I was 4 yo. I was so afraid that the Easter bunny wouldn’t know where I was since my Mom and Dad had dropped me off at Grandma’s. My Brother was born that day in 1965, I was upset because they kept telling me I was getting a bunny but got a brother instead. :( I still tell him I got gypped! ;)
