Some Michigan agriculture organizations have a beef with Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm over her proclamation encouraging residents to not eat meat for a day.

Granholm declared this coming Saturday "Meatout Day" in Michigan earlier this month. Her proclamation encourages residents to choose not to eat meat in observance of the day and to try different recipes rich with vegetables, fruit and whole grains.

The Michigan Farm Bureau blasted the proclamation as "unconscionable and an insensitive slap in the face" to livestock farmers and meat-eating residents. The Republican-led Michigan Senate passed a resolution Wednesday urging the Democratic governor to rescind the proclamation.

You’re more optimistic than I am. Michigan voters (koffDetroitFlintPontiac) were stupid enough to give her two terms. All the dem nominee (probably Dillon) has to do is promise more “free” welfare spending and butt-kiss the unions.

They need a Granholmout Day. But, then they just keep voting them in. BTW, what happens to the voting districts when they bulldoze neighborhoods in Detroit? Can we then reduce the number of reps they have in the house?

“Granholm’s spokeswoman says “the governor is not likely to pass up the barbecue chicken wings as she follows the NCAA basketball tournament”.

I guess not only is she an idiot, she’s a hypocrite.

Good Friday is coming up - fasting and abstinence. She could have made that her “meatless” day without anyone’s noticing a difference in sales.

Trust me, the meat industry in Michigan should rejoice. Everyone I know is eating meat all three meals because of her “proclaimation”. Can’t wait for my HUGE dinner steak.

What an ignorant BEEEEYotch!!!

How this woman, who would be more at home in NYC or SF, get elected twice as governor of Michigan?

Lefties as always telling people they know better. Not that vegetarian is bad; however; there is only one vegetarian I know that is still alive (all died early) and he is always ill.

Republican Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell made the same proclamation earlier this week. Many people responded by stating on one radio show they will be barbecuing steaks today. I’m going out to buy a big juicy steak for tonight’s dinner.

Hoekstra is an unknown in the eastern part of state...he’s got to get Oakland and Macomb counties to understand his brand.

He has a huge job ahead.
