NOT long after a portly, jovial priest in the German industrial city of Essen was accused of sexually abusing three boys in 1979, he was offered a new home in Munich by Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI.
Ratzinger, who was Archbishop of Munich and Freising at the time, wanted Father Peter Hullermann — known to friends in the church as “Hulli” — to undergo psychotherapy.
A psychiatrist quickly concluded that Hullermann was untreatable, however.
“I told the church officials that Hullermann must never be allowed to work with children again,” said Werner Huth, the psychiatrist, in an interview with The Sunday Times this weekend.
“He did not seem to want or be able to co-operate fully during the therapy. He had an alcohol problem and the assaults on the children mostly happened when he had been under the influence of alcohol.”
Huth’s warning was ignored. The priest was allowed to return to pastoral work and then to teach religion in a local state school.
Soon, he was in trouble again. He drank, showed pornographic videos to boys and abused them. He was convicted of the sexual abuse of minors and fined.
Even that was not the end of his time in the church. After a period of probation he continued working — with altar boys, among others.
He was still working as a priest right up until last Monday when, at the age of 62, he was suspended from his duties at a Bavarian tourist resort for breaching a church order in 2008 to avoid any involvement with children.

The most probable pedophiles in order are:
Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers
Priests are way down on the list.
So if a Father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.
Believing in talking snakes, virgin births, lakes of fire, and invisible friends, is the wave of future.
Fortunately, the true believers who will be favored in end times will all be found in the Southern States.
Ratzinger looks so evil. He has hollow eyes.

Millions said to be leaving (if that is even true, which seems dubious) but they were all just hedonistic cafeteria catholics in the first place. so it doesn't matter?

All the Christian religions needs to merge as one, with a simplified message and a common belief. Otherwise, we face extinction.
You may be on to something there. On the other hand, it's harder to exterminate multiples of groups or organizations.
I'm trying to look on the bright side, as to the seemingly various different forms the simple, widely held, common beliefs appear to outsiders, to take.
Otherwise, your plan is better.

“Once a Catholic always a Catholic” is a common saying among Catholics. Is it true that once a person is baptized into the Catholic Church or received into it, he or she is always a Catholic? Speaking from a strictly canonical point of view, the answer is yes. As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, anyone who has ever been a legitimate member of the Catholic Church can never truly leave. Oh, he or she can become a non-practicing Catholic, a “bad” Catholic, or even an excommunicated Catholic, but never a non-Catholic or an ex-Catholic.” (a partial quote)

I think there is a problem with the nation’s male populace as a whole in the growth of this pedophilia issue and you are seeing this manifested in the religious ranks as well. So I’m thinking it’s an unintended misdirection to think just one group of religious folk have this issue as opposed to another group that doesn’t have the problem ..”as much” as the “other guys”.
Baptists are very quick to out such ministers as soon as they are exposed.Each Church operates independently and there is no hierarchy to cover it up and send such exposed to “other parishes” or “cover ministries”.
Other Protestant denominations may operate more or less in the same fashion, hence the inflated numbers of such exposed and convicted pastors and priests in those ranks as opposed to Catholics.
There aren’t as many U.S. Catholic Priests as there are U.S. pastors and priests of other churches and Catholic churches have larger numbers attending fewer churches. U.S. Protestant churches are many in number but have less average enrolled “members”, hence there are many more U.S. protestant pastors and priests. Thus there will be larger numbers of these Protestant clergy who might be caught up in these sorts of sins as there are larger numbers of them to begin with as compared to Catholic priests and Bishops.
So the real question becomes percentages, are Catholic clergy members involved with these types of sins in larger or smaller percentages of their numbers as compared with clergy of all other faiths. (I won’t include Muslims here as that religion is freaky as to what they consider sexual sin.) I’m going to wager that the percentages will be about the same as their more numerous Protestant counter parts!
The other difference of course being that Baptists and other “FUNDIE” type churches tend to quickly find and expose such sin when discoverd and even have their disgraced clergy brought up on charges at far higher levels than their Catholic or Mainline Liberal protestant counterparts!
The Bible in Romans explains the principle causes of why such sin gets started in persons in the first place. So the real question is why has such general rebellion against God occured in the hearts of many men(no matter what religious station or walk of life) that they should have so twisted the things of heaven that they were then given over to a reprobate mind?

Maybe it’s time to move to a nice mountain retreat in Austria.
And those are just for the few cases that went to trial. It doesn't include all the thousands of cases that were kept secret under threat of excommunication for the victim.
I wonder how many of the “anti-abortion” democrats were RC.
