McCollum to file lawsuit against health care bill

ORLANDO, FL -- Moments after Congress voted to approve President Obama's health care legislation, Florida's Attorney General announced he will file a lawsuit to declare the bill unconstitutional.

Bill McCollum will join Attorneys General from South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Pennsylvania, Washington, North Dakota and South Dakota to file a lawsuit against the federal government.

"The health care reform legislation passed by the U. S. House of Representatives this evening clearly violates the U.S. Constitution and infringes on each state's sovereignty," McCollum said in a statement distributed late Sunday night.

"If the President signs this bill into law, we will file a lawsuit to protect the rights and the interests of American citizens."

McCollum will hold a press conference at his Orlando office Monday morning to discuss his plans.

Since no one has standing, how will they file suit?

I called Rell’s office this morning and demanded she push for Connecticut to reassert our 10th Amendment rights. I suggest other Connecticut Freepers do the same. We need to push back and defend the Constitution by any and all necessary means! I don’t want to hear it won’t do any good. It’s time to step up the pressure!

You know it is really bad when your AG gets involved. I thought ours getting involved was bad, but yours — WOW!

“Kind of a tall order...”

Not any more Nutmeg. I fully expect (*ASSUMING* there are elections) the GOP to win back the House, Senate and majority of governorships.

Then Soetoro needs to be impeached AND removed (idiots that always say “impeach” irk me - you need to remove the criminal as well) AND imprisoned at Gitmo.

If the Republican Party does what it needs to do, the Democrat Party can be destroyed FOREVER. Like the Nazis in Germany or the Fascists in Italy.

And it can be done - just look at the small step taken here in MA, who would have ever thought a f*ck*ng Rat would have lost “Kennedy's Seat”.

The courts won’t “simply sat federal law trumps state law.” Because the challenge will be that the federal law is unconstitutional. So first the courts will find some way to torture the constitution and say that the law is constitutional, then they will say it trumps state law.

Here is a convienient list for who voted yea/nay, and also who the incumbents are for November elections.

Obama put the final 8 nails in the coffin by providing a presidential letter concerning federally funded abortion, which is not law, its a con, just like Obama

So far, the left has not gotten a palpable “Bill” for Obama’s tactics. Now they HAVE to participate ie. Pay For health care, whether they like it or not. If they don’t the gestapo...eh...IRS, will take it from them. The free ride will end very soon.

Agreed. McCain-Feingold is not something to emulate or aspire to.

That piece of legislation alone did more to swing me irrevocably to the side that says our government is operating with no limiting restraint from the Constititution.

I respect George Bush on many fronts, even though I disagree with some of his actions. But his refusal to veto that abortion of a bill called McCain-Feingold, thereby kicking it down the road and allowing eight years of damage to be done, was a reputiation to his oath of office that did more damage to him in my eyes than nearly any other.

And that was simply a preview to this.

Gents: I am reminded of what Desaix said to Napoleon at Marengo:

This battle is completely lost. However, there is time to win another

And, win we will in the courts. Even the dimmest judge has to know that this bill is the constitutional version of cyanide-laced Kool Aid.

Bush is an honorable man and of course I voted for him twice, but like you say, he was wrong on a lot of issues, wrong on spending and his refusal to use the veto to stop out of control spending, wrong on amnesty, wrong in backing Arlene Specter, wrong on and that prescription drugs bill of his(cost $400 Billion)..rolls eyes.
Nevertheless I'd take Bush over Hanoi John Kerry and Algore any day.

Yeah. I just finished reading “Lone Survivor”, and even with all of his warts, a lot of Special Forces guys just think the world of Bush.

I wish he had done four things (apart from CFR):

1.) Defended himself

2.) Abandoned bipartisanship

3.) Distanced himself from the amnesty immigration crowd

4.) Controlled spending.

"The proponents of the law bring up car insurance for drivers as a mandate, but that’s a state mandate, not federal."

Not to mention you don't have to drive on public roads and you don't have to own a car. However, if you want simply to be alive, you WILL have to buy mandated insurance. This section will not stand.

Yesterday was a black day for me as well. I do believe the SCOTUS will strike down major portions of this bill.

We shall see.

I HAVE LOST FAITH.

Maybe today you have, but you will bounce back. Don't quit now. We need you. We need a lot of positive people who can solve or help solve this problem. There are a lot of good, honest people out there who have the best interests of the country in their hearts. I just turns out that that is not so true about democrat politicians.

This sounds like America is devolving back to Feudalism of the Middle Ages. As they say, a great civilization can devolve back.

Nope, it ends up on the Rocket Docket to SCOTUS. Its a constitutional issue, that’s the venue.
