Freedom Works Willing to Throw Tea Party Under the Bus to Appease Democrats, Media
Monday, March 22, 2010 | Kristinn

Freedom Works, a Washington, D.C. based advocacy group that latched onto the Tea Party movement last year is now threatening to abandon the grassroots movement in the face of a propaganda onslaught by the Democrat party and the media.

Speaking to Politico, Freedom Works spokesman Adam Brandon said that media reports smearing Tea Party protesters as racists could cause Freedom Works to give up its support for the movement:

"Tattoos last forever,” said Brandon, quoting his boss, FreedomWorks chairman and former House Republican Leader Dick Armey. “If the movement gets tattooed as at all sympathetic to those (racist and homophobic) views, I won’t want to be involved in it anymore. It’s very distracting not only to our side but also to the debate and the country.”

The failure of so-called Tea Party leaders to stand up to the Democrat/Media smear machine this weekend has given the machine an opening to hurt the movement that they are exploiting. From personal experience I know that 99.999 percent of the Tea Party movement are decent people who would not yell the things the Democrat/Media machine is accusing them of yelling. For Freedom Works to talk about shunning them because the Democrats and the media smear them is an insulting betrayal, but to be expected from the inside the Beltway crowd.

Just looking for an excuse!

Anyone who expects everyone in a movement as large as the TEA will demonstrate perfect behavior is a fool! What are we supposed to do, shoot anyone who gets out of line?

They can blackmail us this way for as long as conservatives care about being labeled racist, sexist , and/or homophobic.

And no longer.

The only solution is for conservatives to stop caring about what labels the Left casts at us. The people who would be the most offended by somebody being racist, sexist , and/or homophobic, are people who hate conservatives anyway.

I like the Tea Party moniker. For one reason it is not a negative. Conservatives are always being described as "anti-choice" "anti-gun control" "anti-gay marriage" rather than how we choose to describe ourselves, "pro-life, pro self-defense, pro traditional marriage, etc."

This time we got to label ourselves in a positive way and it stuck for once.

As if the black caucus didn’t set that up, it was so obvious.

Buh bye.

Weak kneed and spineless is not going to get the job done. Good riddance. They were never the so-called “leaders” anyway.

I think you know that I am not saying that. However, this is not a “Party.” The movement will be stongest if it remains a loose network of patriotic Americans. These Alinsky tactics only work when they can be focused.

It would seem that anyone who wants to destroy the TP movement merely needs to show up at rallies pretending to be a Tea Partier, and misbehave.

The fact that they would blindly believe Politico over everyone who was there and heard no such things speaks volumes about Freedomworks. Good riddance.

This is how propaganda works folks... when evil rules, it whispers accusations but cannot back it up, and even if it is true, they tar the whole bunch as one and the same. So if it’s damned if you do or damned if you don’t, then do, and do with gusto. We won’t stand for being tarred and feathered for something that we are not. But if we are to be tarred, then let it be for something that really counts. When I march, it will be for civil disobedience.

FreedomWorks has been outed. They were probably vocal supporters of the pro-gay CPAC festival back in February. Good riddance, the tea party movement doesn’t need spineless weasels involved.

The problem is the label. It allows the msm to group and smear us. I think we should just be known as “we the people”....which is what we are.

They have been saying this stuff since Obama was elected. Remember when there were a few months where every stand we took on an issue that differed with the President was because he was Black. Remember the town hall cries of “racism”. I think they are taking another stab at it.

Then get out Freedom Works. All those folks that showed up were Americans and not racists.

Ye of no faith, get the hell out.

Perhaps we should rename ourselves "Acorn". I hear the name's available. ;-)

I think you’re right about the Alinsky tactics... they will try to smear and make a laughing stock out of the “Tea Party” handle, and will succeed with many people who only listen to sound bites from the liberal media. It seems to be difficult for many leaders to stand up against the tactic. It would be harder to smear “We The People”.

As to the supposed racist comments, I suspect “dirty tricks”...that the other side planted their own people into the crowd to do it.

Wow Haven’t we been down this road before. Liberal plants at certain events that try to paint us as radicals. Stand up for yourselves, is there any video of this thing they say happened? Lets do an investigation lets find out who the individual was and expose their DU screen name for all to see that it was actually a radical leftist Saul Alinsky wannabe that used this tactic. Either that or the Congressman that say they were harassed are liars just trying to get sympathy to their cause.
