Defense officials worried that Petraeuss comments are harbinger of weakened ties
While almost a week has passed since Gen. David Petraeus, commander of the United States Militarys Central Command (CENTCOM) testified before the Senate and dropped his bombshell about Israel, concern within the defense establishment has only grown.
While the assumption among the top IDF brass is that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen does not support Petraeuss widely-reported claim that Israeli intransigence was a problem for the US military in the Middle East and was fomenting conflict, the comments still worry Israel for a number of reasons.
First and foremost is the possibility that Petraeuss comments indicate a shift among US military thinkers. While diplomatic ties between Jerusalem and Washington have traditionally known their ups and downs, ties on the military level have always been perceived to be rock-solid.

Obama is also going to drop ties to Taiwan.
We have been selling the same amount of weaponry to them; only this year the Chinese have decided to make a big stink about it because they see the weakness of Obama. Next year, there will be a very minimal sale at the best to Taiwan, as well as severance of military relations with them.

I think I’d go with Petraeus over Mullens. Someone wrote that what people think Petraeus said was not exactly what he did or meant.
Only time will tell.
“Obama is also going to drop ties to Taiwan.”
I’ve been saying the same thing for a year. It’s obvious. China will use Taiwan as leverage on us for them supporting reining in N.Korea. At least, that is what they will promise, and 0zer0 will buy it.
China learned the benefits of getting control of Hong Kong, and the next domino they want is Taiwan. Next China will force closer ties with Japan, S.Korea, and the Philipines. All by using N.Korea both as a threat, and a pawn that they can “control” for the “benefit” of the West. China will then be able to dominate all of the Western Pacific. All very easy to see if you just look at it. All very dangerous as well.
White flags everywhere...The second coming of the French nation is rising...
That brought to mind the event last year when Thomas Pickering had a secret meeting with Hamas. When that was reported in the press, Obama denied Pickering was working for him. Pickering served as Reagan's Ambassador to Israel so I guess it would be possible that Pickering was working for Israel. Either way, somebody is talking to Hamas.
Pickering belongs to the Realist-Pragmatist school of foreign policy and that group subscribes to the theory of "Linkage", that there are many problems in the mideast that are linked to the Israel-Palestine problem and can't be solved until the Palestine-Israel problem is solved.
One could draw a conclusion from the above article that Patraeus is a realist.
Obama is also going to try and drop ties with Georgia, Latvia, Lithuana, and Estonia, and leave them to be reabsorbed by the Neo-Soviet bear.
