State considers joining suit against health reform (Alaska)

JUNEAU -- Gov. Sean Parnell calls newly passed federal health care legislation unconstitutional and "public policy at its worst." His attorney general is reviewing the measure to determine if the state may join others in suing over the issue, though a Department of Law spokesman cautioned against a rush to judgment.

"For the many Alaskans currently unable to afford insurance, this legislation will do nothing but require that they purchase health insurance," he said. "This bill will increase insurance premiums and do very little to ensure that patients have access to needed health care professionals."

LOng before they haul you away to Arizona (sigh, I love the winters there) they will take everything you own.

If you plan on going up against the man - better sell everything you now own, hide the dough in someones back yard and move to a trailer park in Mt View.

KS just dropped SCHIP (Denali Kids care for them) because they ran out of money. HI dropped theres, no dough.

Seems that when you offer something for free, folks will abuse it to death. Seems subsidized medical - even if you are 400% of the poverty level - is attractive.

For those in Rio Linda, a family of four can collect welfare in Alaska even with an income of 43K/yr (in some cases, slightly higher - up to 48K/yr)

When I first moved to Alaska I was living in a camper shell on a homebuilt trailer with my tools on Gambell next to the Ford dealership. And it was in April of 1992, it was still winter and below zero.

Been there done that.

I made the decision years ago when I bought my 8 acres and home with some foresight, its not in my name. I am mobile, I have resources but I am willing to sacrifice. Will I go to debtors prison?

That depends on my personal desperation when or if my back is against the wall, IRS will not get any of my personal belongings, they may get my lifeless body though but I will prepare to let it be known that I had no intention of giving in, I would die first. Nobody can understand that any more.

I would rather go underground, be silent, join with others fighting this illegal reform act. We will be the mosquitoes of the bush against the larger animal. Alaska is my last stand and I won’t be tread upon.

Other States have already lined up to take the FedGov to the woodshed.

Our “leadership” is waiting to see if they want to “me too” in the upcoming battles.

thanks for reading my posts.

I don’t understand why you are pooh Poohing this. I don’t care if Alaska is the first to the party. The important thing is that Alaska will probably be attending. I don’t expect our AG to jump blindly into this, he has to be a professional.

Arkansas's AG said no, but Dem governor said yes.

A private suit will be filed in any case from here.

It's not unusual for Arkansas government to split like this even though they are all the same party....dems.......

They did it during the Civil war as well.

We are almost there.

The bamster will run the table now, with cap and tax or a VAT tax, Open borders, Card Check and more effoprts to take our guns..

We have about 3-4 years before we start the death rattle..

It won't be long before our credit rating goes south and they start printing pesos.

The Fed will fight back soon. They will make the States accept the government intrusions, just as they have with highways.

There is only one way to stop this nonsense in the final analysis.

You have to kill it.

Ya, Denali Kid Care is available to family of four making 40K. It really opened itself up to abuse for sure. I think Palin was trying to do good with Kid Care, but like you said; it went outta control. You know, our plan costs 18,500/year and only 80/20 family plan with $100/person yearly deduct and $1000 out of pocket with preferred provider. Needless to say we're hanging onto her at all costs. Here's the headache though. I have many conservative friends who say they can't afford such a plan and yet I wonder how can you not afford it? Does that mean we will see the majority of Americans defaulting to a govt plan down the road like they say? Complete economic collapse of everything surrounding health care? Taxes, Taxes, and more Taxes? Man, we have to hope and pray the repubs can rewrite the substance before the benefits begin. Here in Ak, we don't have all the massive state taxes. In rural areas it is cheaper to exist in many ways too. Boy, I'm really trying to become as self-sufficient as possible, but there are limits. It's how much one spends, not how much one makes that matters; especially if we end up with a VAT like in Canada. What is spooky is most my Canadian friends, and they ain't liberals either; say their system is ok; even the VAT. They claim all the benefits & services paid out balance everything,,,,,OUCH! So I always ask them why they buy all the fuel they can in Ak, rather than Dawson, ha ha. The future is not bright.

Back to Parnell. When he started talking about changing ACES, it seemed back to the same old corruption I have watched for so many years. With Palin, you knew she would lead. I wonder if Parnell has it in him?

Just my opinion, I see all the corruption coming back into play after Palin scared them all off. Parnell is no Palin.

Or do as some my firends have done.

Sold everything and moved to Costa Rica. They love it and now need nothing from the US (or so they say).

I’m curious - a professional what? ‘Cause in that statement of yours, you just trashed 14 other AGs.

Sorry to take so long to reply, I actually got some work today.

Make no mistake, Frank M was a Richard of the first order, he could not get his ego thru a double door without a shoe horn and a can of axle grease.

BUT

He did get some things done

He cut the number of state employees
He cut welfare
He cut entitlement programs
He pushed development
He signed the carry w/o permit (very popular)

SO ya, Frank was an ass, but he was an effective ass.

And I did not vote for him on his run for a second term, because an effective ass is still an ass and at some point will become intolerable for many things...

Works for me. I guess we’re lucky Parnell has a primary coming up and is still feeling the need to beef up his conservative creds.
