Good old Joe Biden, introducing Barack Obama at the health-care bill-signing lollapalooza in Washington yesterday, leaned over and whispered into the presidential ear (and a nearby open mike): "This is a big f---ing deal." Sure was -- though not personally to Veep Potty-Mouth, nor to the president. They're exempt, you see.
Really.
No worrying for them about the personal consequences of ObamaCare's overbearing regulation, worrisome coverage uncertainties and financial confusions. Same for members of the presidential Cabinet -- and all of their staff members.
They and their families are exempt from the calamitous health-care "reform" plan they've hung on the rest of the country.
(Think maybe they know something?)
It didn't have to be this way.
Last fall, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Finance Committee, proposed that any health-care bill apply to all non-civil-service federal employees -- from Obama on down -- currently covered by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
But when it came time to mark up a final version of the health-care bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid included language that applied only to members of Congress and their personal staffers.
That may well have exempted all congressional staff members employed by committees -- staffers heavily involved in actually writing the final bill.
And Reid never allowed Grassley's amendment to come to the floor for debate and a vote.
How typical.

Well aren’t they “special”? ;-)
THAT alone should make this abomination unconstitutional. Equal Protection Clause...but NOOOO!
If the Federal government mandates that we buy a certain product, in this case, health insurance, doesn’t seem like they would have to make all the possible approve options available to ALL of us? Or are some of us just “more” equal?
People should go to the link and read the rest of the short article.
Leaders who will not expose themselves to the consequences of their policies are not leaders. They are tyrants.
BumpandMark.
Amerika’s nomenklatura.
Laws for thee but not for me! BHO
Now, ain’t that Orwellian?
“All animals are equal. Some are more equal than others.”
Animal Farm was the exact forecast for our Dear Leader and his zombies.
Sorry, and I apologize George Orwell, I really didn’t think that your book applied to the free nation of the United States. I was wrong.
Big Brother lives right here at home with us now. (1984)
So they’re saying that the current presidential staff is exempt? Are they mentioned by name? Or does it mean anyone who ever was or ever will be a presidential staff member.
I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone can be for this when they know congress and Islambama exempted themselves.
Healthcare reform would have been brought to a screeching halt if they knew that they were actually going to experience Obamacare first hand.
They didn’t read the thing! The “Yeas” just assumed that their special turf wouldn’t be disturbed by such a trivial matter as equality with the unwashed masses - and they were right!
And there was a period for awhile when those Soviet leaders were dropping like flies. Might have been the elite health care system their state eventually produced. That is what will rule the day in the long run. Our current governing state is living within a corrupt fantasy world of their own creation that will continue every day to separate from physical reality. Those of us who retain our freedom will continue living within a reality being governed by truths we deem to be self evident. For the Tyrants, their Science is already failing them (Global Warming), their Economic Administration is producing record deficits and hardly anyone believes a word they state. They have lost trust, economic production and their science is failing them. In short, they have no future.
If the Democrats keep this up they will be able to reinstitute some of their old favorite rules, like separate bathrooms, separate water fountains, and separate entrances to movie theaters and the like.
