Years ago, the PBS station here would show stuff late at night that would make a sailor blush. It was funny watching them try to sneak stuff on at 2:00am in the morning. Benny Hill uncensored anyone?
The cartoon channels are probably more watched than that news channel.
I think that you U.S. guys would be shocked at what’s being shown on the open networks in Holland nowadays. From 1 to 5 AM there’s non-stop advertising for phone sex. With movies to ‘embellish’ the numbers. Now this is what I find repugnant; and I mean it. Far more idiotic than an unintended glitch.
Oh, before I forget: we had ‘Deep Throat’ uncensored, a year ago, from 10-12 PM, on our own PBS.
It did not cause any stir.
I just want to state for the record I haven’t worked at Time Warner for quite some time.
Some poor Mom is going to be confused, when their kid wants to watch “Debby does Disneyland”.
How, pray tell, can you say the boys are "lucky" to be exposed to pornography? Explain that to me.
Thanks for understanding. There’s a lot to be said about the issue, because it’s rather complicated. But unfortunately I don’t have the time anymore. Just like to repeate: I should have counted to ten and have taken a deep breath before writing in on the matter.
Adults and hard porn: very bad combination.
Kids and hard porn: criminal combination.

I worked at our local public station; the movie was the first effort by Roman Polanski, a short called "Knife in the Water."
After the program finished, I rewound the tape and replayed it, just to make sure.

Yeah those little indy pieces were something else. British sitcoms weren’t quite as bad but some of them would certainly not be allowed on commercial television.
A friend of mine became the Chief Engineer (”el Jefe”) at a station in my town. Not long afterword, they decided to stay on the air 24 hours a day, and would fill those late hours with all sorts of old syndicated stuff and infomercials.
He noticed that the guys in master control would relieve their boredom by dialing up a satellite downlink to the Playboy Channel, and watching on the preview monitors.
He circulated a notice that the first one to accidentally punch it up on air would get the axe.
Well, you can guess what happened. Within about a week, too.
Was the talk of the town; newspaper columnists and talk radio hosts had a ball with it. One viewer complained that he and his kids were offended. (One gets the impression they watched it for a little while before switching off. Also, he never explained why his kids were up at 3am anyway.)
That’s why I said stuff like this doesn’t ‘just happen’. Someone has to be there to dial it in. Ah well. In about 10 years you probably won’t have broadcast tv anyway. It will all be net based and people will be able to watch what they want when they want. People won’t have an excuse to complain at that point. (I hope)
With the heavy use of automation these days, it could just be the result of a typo made the week before.
